I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the STi dampers/springs. But the problem is which one: Showa Silver (2013 tS) vs Bilstein Yellow (2015 tS)

I assume both are fairly similar in terms of performance, maybe a slight edge to the Bilstein since they're a newer design.

Only points that I could come up with:

Showa Silver:
-big improvement in ride comfort and stability (car is a lot smoother overall)
-assumed to work in conjunction with the flexible tower bar (which I have)
-tS specific application
-no info if the struts are normal/inverted | monotube/twintube
-have to apply the STi sticker manually lol
-wheel gap looks to be less than Bilstein even though both use pink 0.6" drop springs

Bilstein Yellow:
-big improvement in tire contact pressure and cornering grip (related due to the fact it is inverted strut?)
-more of a 'euro/mature' feel
-smoother with small and medium bumps (assume overall improved smoothness)
-assumed to work in conjunction with the new v-bars
-tS plus regular car compatibility
-pre-applied STi sticker lol
-wheel gap looks to be same as stock even though the pink springs lower 0.6"

Any advise or should I just flip a coin? lol

I've had the same debate with myself. Flipping the coin is probably best... Showas are also a tiny bit cheaper on Japanparts so there's that lol

The Showa damper kit is basically based on their Showa Tuning Sports Evolution Kit. I've translated a few Japanese sites before and it seems that they are running on this more reliable "new damper oil", that supposedly gives better ride quality by improving on how it deals with small undulations. Also they increased the tube thickness near the bottom to improve rigidity.

The Bilstein damper kit has inverted front shocks to increase the stiffness and lower the unsprung weight in the front, which arguably leads to better handling. Also inverted monotube shocks have larger oil capacity and supposedly more efficient heat dissipation, but inherit issue with stiction. This particular STI setup is actually mad comfy despite of the general view of Bilstein being a harsh ride.

I'll be honest I waited for STI to come out with a set of Bilstein shocks for the longest time, to me Subaru / STI means Bilstein lol! But logic dictates I should have bought the Showa set (less money, more comfortable twintube design?, probably more reliable in the long run).

Has anyone purchased the TS brake lines? When swapping to the TS Brembos (same as the 2008 STI black Brembos with swapped bleeders), do you need to run a different brake line? I would like to switch to a stainless steel braided brake line, but I don't know if what the TS uses is already SS braided. Any confirmations?

The tS lines are still rubber just branded with the STI logo. You can use any brz compatible ss lines with the brembos

The cf drive shaft/rear axle combo has done wonders to the acceleration of the car. It improves the responsiveness and immediacy of the throttle. While the majority of the improvement will be attributed to the drive shaft (half the weight), the larger diameter rear axles (same weight as stock), in my opinion, still contribute together with drive shaft as the larger diameter transfers more torque for the same amount of rotation. Overall, the car revs quicker, and what was most surprising to me, a lot smoother. A lot of the harshness and vibration as the car accelerates has been softened or eliminated.
I was reading lately a Japan review. The thicker rear drive shaft was created mainly for greater exit corner speed or acceleration. It is well known that AWD cars are stronger on this area and STI wanted to replicate somehow this behaviour in their RWD platform. Going faster is many times connected with going smoother. The result of a thicker drive shaft is that you can apply the throttle earlier during corner exit. Hence, a greater exit corner speed or acceleration.

Maybe the cover extensions improve the aerodynamic efficiency. They were using in the BRZ design some relatively new ideas about air flow. They were optimizing not only the flow above and below the car, but also the side flow.

But if you have the fog lights, it might not have any aerodynamic effect. It should be used only with the led day lights.

Good to know , but I don't think anyone carrys Showa shock in US anyway so you are still better with STI/Bilstein.
(pretty sure 2013 tS is the older showa since Showa Tuning Sports Evolution with Sensitive Frequency Response Damper only came out last year.)
