If you want to learn the TRUE meaning of fear... drive a slow car with shitty headlights at night on an un-lit race track covered in detritus from people shunting for 10 hours. GOOD TIMES.
My friends attended chump car races as well as LeMons but I don't feel very comfortable racing in old cars but that's just me ...

What kind of times were you running there? My personal best was 1:58 with the Vette (street pads and brakes) ..not the best run but a couple videos from local events[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xje4jWGll4"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xje4jWGll4[/ame]

I honestly have no idea what times I was running - I don't have any timing equipment. The car (which I'm getting ready to sell) was still running street tires. Despite that, I was still able to mat the brake pedal at the top of 3rd gear into the Thumbnail (even with ATE Superblue, Hawk HP+ pads, and SS lines). That was a helluva pucker moment.

Regardless, really fun track! Even when you're driving the slowest car out of 60.

Guys, I got this from the Permatex website, what do you think? (Anti-Seize)

Does Permatex® suggest applying anti-seize to lubricate lug nuts when installing or tightening the nuts?
-
Permatex® does not recommend the use of any anti-seize product on wheel studs. Many people have used anti-seize for this applications, however, there is the potential for over-torqueing and therefore, higher clamp loads and potentially dangerous bolt stretch. Because of the lubricity of anti-seize, there is a tendency to over-tighten because of the ease with which the nut will bear down on the lug. For this reason, even if you try to torque the nuts to factory specs, the clamp load may become too high depending on the type of bolt, size and manufacturer.

What tool/ap/program are you using in that video to track your lap times? I really like the way that's set up, especially with the real time lap difference feature.

Cooling pretty well figured out...

I forgot about this thread but someone was looking at it yesterday so I should give an update. Gearhead and I have been busy and the latest fan mount is on the wheel bearing bolts in the center of the upright. It's been quite happy there, although we've battled some vibration issues along the way. Here's a picture of the kit that blows air right onto the section of the caliper where the piston is.

My site stats have been going nuts the past week.
Gearhead and I have been seeing what's possible with these and the one on the strut, while "safe" from heat doesn't work as well as the one on the spindle.
That one needs to be on whenever you're on the track and a while afterward - think, "Leaf Blower Guys" in F1.
The plastic is fine (so far in testing) as long as the fan is moving air.
I have a couple more sets out there and I'm waiting for more feedback before claiming victory.
If the heat can't be managed, we can go back to the strut mount but the spindle mount is just so cool...
