This is all an elaborate inside marketing scheme by Subaru and Toyota combined in an effort to sell more BRZs since they cost more.

Tinfoil hats on guys, illuminati confirmed.

It seems to me that young people with hand, face and neck tattoos are not going to be shopping for Scion hatchbacks. I assume they want buyers who pass a credit check and have steady employment, so they may want to focus on younger people with tattoos that would be covered by a collared shirt.

Well I did forget that the majority of my demographic are dumb, gullible and looking to fit in. So if a commercial tells them hey, this is how you can fit in.. they buy into it.

At first quick glance at topic name, I thought Scion partnered with some company doing some real stuff, like supercharger or whatever. When I read the topic, I had to see the ad, just for the fail factor. I was for an oil change last week and saw IM in person - what a sad car. The hood angle is weird, I guess makes for good visibility, I'll give em that. I just don't get it overall.
So they try to make a car thats as exciting as a burned pancake with cool music and a guy moving like he has some shits in his undies, alright. Look at that shark fin bro, oh, 17" wheels, yea halogen projectors - great to swap a shitty HID kit in! Oh look at that tach rev to the moon and back.
Alright, I think its just me getting old. Maybe its good that I am growing out of their targeted range. What the heck is Scion/Toyota thinking with their cars... At least they got iA / Canadian Yaris alright by having Mazda do it, again, ruined the front end.
Overall Scion's marketing is extremely emberrasing, seems they are either run by kids or grown ups that got stuck in kids development stage.

Eh, I'm a youngun and still like to distance myself from the Scion stigma as much as possible. With that said, I don't mind the Scion iM as a daily driver. I also don't see the point in swapping out the badge because of some weird-ass marketing or because Justin Bieber owns a Scion now (who gives a flying shit about him anyway), but will do so at some point simply because I like the Toyota badge on it more.

On a side note, why is the Auris here called the iM and the Mazda-based Scion called the iA? It would have made much more sense if the names were swapped around.

It's way worse than that. It's old people who have only ever sold cars to old people (average age of a Toyota buyer was 65+ before they launched Scion if I remember right) now trying to sell to young people specifically.

Everything about Scion's message is supposed to be aimed at youth. Most of Toyota's advertising had focused on reliability - nothing 'lifestyle' based and certainly nothing exciting.

I just think they're aiming too low on the youth thing. They should merely be aiming at mid-20's to mid-30's professionals who just aren't quite ready to fade into the beige of a Camry. What would help them a ton is a hot hatch and/or premium hatch. Some people want a small car with a manual transmission and heated leather seats. I'm one of those people and my only options are the Focus ST or GTi.

That 65+ statistic blew my mind so I had to look it up. It actually checks out. I didn't even know 65 year olds bought cars. jk.

Let's see. Average age of Toyota buyers. 65. Remind me again why owners are rebadging to a Toyota? Isn't that like putting Buick badges on your Chevy?

Toyota carries a history behind it's name and i bought this car mostly because of the history of the AE86, Initial D and Japanese culture.

It's more stupid to call it a Scion when every part is Subaru/Toyota
Also, in my opinion, the car looks more expensive with Toyota badges.

Scion is just a failed marketing attempt done by Americans, for Americans.
