Wheel Directory: OEM Subaru Impreza WRX (2012) 17x8+53

Swapped the stock wheels (17x8+53) and tires (235/45R17) from our 2012 WRX onto the car yesterday and they're great. The fit was pretty tight up from with the strut, but it's fine. The extra grip from the larger tires is amazing and I haven't found that there's any loss in steering feel or sharpness in handling. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I really like the look, too. Just thought I'd share. Start bugging your friends to upgrade their WRX wheels and tires!

- Matt

that's not bad...i think that's a better look than the stock wheels and the extra width is nice.

Wow that looks really good. Was thinking of getting 17x8 with 235 tire. How is the effect on handling?

Those look good. Can't wait to get my wheels. I'm planning on 235/40-17s.

Those look very good on the BRZ, and most people sell almost brand new sets with tires for like $500...

Why would there be less steering feel? There should be more, given that it makes scrub radius larger and combines that with grippier tires.
Looks good on SWP though. I tried similar color on my WRB and I'm not really a fan of that combo.

How much more room is left on the front between the strut and tire?

But 235/45R17 is almost an inch taller in diameter than stock.

It looks good... When I was at the First Drive, they had an FR-S with TRD springs Yokohama tires & 18 Enkei wheels... Looked really clean.

When I said "loss in steering feel" I guess I meant losing the balanced steering feel that people (myself included) seem to love, not steering feel in general.

Nothing. Maybe 1/8in. I don't know if these tires run big or small, so there's obviously that to consider as well.
