All this was because they over did the safety precautions to the point they became meaningless.

Happens in the IT space all the time. There must have been at least a dozen time over my career where I've gone in to help with an issue, only to find out the real issue was all the "monitoring" software that had been put in place to prevent or find an issue to begin with. They end up using so many cycles for monitoring that the servers can't do their real jobs.

The same could be said for aggressive password schedules - if you force people to change passwords too often, they start leaving them on post-its at their desk.

I HATED having to change my passwords every month at my last job.. and we used three or four different ones simultaneously... AND we weren't allowed to use ones we'd used before. Never wrote them down, because THAT'S a bad idea too, security-wise. SO... unfortunately, I was one of many folks that had to bug our poor overworked IT gal a couple times a year to break into my accounts. SO stupid.

Fortunately, I retired... as of three days ago... and LOVING it so far!

In my case, clients are too damn cheap to purchase more physical disks. There's a reason why we keep getting disk full and impeding database dismount alerts on our end every night. No more disk space!

We can only perform mailbox moves and blow away the catalog so many times. It'll just rebuild its self and fill up again.

Sorry, this probably doesnt add to the conversation. Just wanted to rant.
