You don't know what you have until it's gone...
Well, my 86 isn't gone.... just didn't drive it for about a week.
I spent most of that time driving a pretty nice car from another Japanese motor company... with capacity to hold four full-size adults in a nice quiet cabin, soft (but not spongy) ride, and decent 6 cylinder power (about 275 crank hp...). Paddle shifters (boring)... decent brakes... and with AWD... actually handled quite well. I'll admit it... after DD'ing my FR-S for the better part of 2.5 years, it was like being on vacay... but like being on vacay... I started getting a little bored - just "cruz'n" down the highway... maneuvering around town... in a quiet cocoon. Then this afternoon, I got back into my FR-S and did a drive and BAM! There it was AGAIN... the big smile on my face as I got into the first of the turns... "feeling" the road and NVH of the 86 as I got the revs up and went on a long-way around to do an errand. Fun AND value -- in a "driver's car" with a look that continues to draw compliments... The "vacay" car is staying in the garage tomorrow...

Totally could relate to that when I switch between the Mazda and FRS.

I still remember the piece of shit Corolla that's sitting in front of the house currently. So much free play in the steering wheel lol.
I do have to admit, saw the thread title and almost shed a tear thinking something bad happened to your car.

I happened to be at the local Chevy dealer this weekend and was presented with an offer to buy a beautiful 2015 C7 (MT, base model) at slightly under invoice... and I was sooooo tempted. I balked... but that's not to say that a C7 wouldn't also put a big smile on my face.... BUT just the post-purchase expense of tires alone ($1,600/set) etc. is enough to make me realize what a true bargain we have in the 86... Now that I'm past that self-control exercise, can I convince myself to pull the trigger on that eForce supercharger???

I can relate... Since I've owned my FR-S I've started taking the long way to get places and / or finding excuses to go for a drive...
And I don't even clutch bro. #paddlelife. |

Then I say "nope, car isn't even paid off yet. Don't bother because last time you went for a test drive, you bought the car 2 weeks later." lol Quote:
I drive 99% of the time in manual mode. Before I upshift, I take my foot off the gas > shift > then quickly press the gas pedal. I also downshift when coming to a stop. I mostly do it to hear my exhaust though.

The 86 has ruined me for every car that doesn't feel similar. I am always itching to drive my car and I daily drive it everyday. I have never felt that way about my GT-type heavy ass cars I have driven and own.

Haha I thought this was a thread about selling your car and pining after it again.

Seen this one before, the hero dies in the end. Mob violence, flamed to death.
