Well there were rumors of an upcoming RX-7 but it seems this project may be on hold. Unfortunately, Mazda is really hurting right now and just announced another series of layoffs. The strong Yen and the after affects of the Tsunami/earthquake are definitely affecting Mazda.

I have owned many Mazda products and really like the company but at this point I would not rule them being bought out by a larger company. I suspect until their financial situation improves we may not see an RX-7 as they will focus more on their more popular selling cars/segments.

Unfortunately, the RX-8 was not a big success for them, and that hurts a potential RX-7.

Personally I would love to see one. And a Toyota Supra as well

Logically, wouldn't the next rotary model be the RX-9? I don't think Mazda would resurrect the RX-7 name simply because each american iteration of the car, starting with the RX-4 (my grandmother had one of those), has been replaced by the number higher. Correct me if I am wrong, please.

As far as comparison, once I get my FR-S, I will let my dad take it around the block and see what he thinks

The rumor a few years ago was that they were going to bring the RX-7 name back:
http://www.rx7blog.com/2010/05/2011-...cept-pictures/

But I don't know when or if this car will ever see the light of day. I suspect it will depend on how well the FR-S and BRZ sell and how well Mazda recovers financially. And they also need to figure out how to economically make a rotary engine that can make high HP and get good gas mileage. That was one big problem with the RX-8, that car is thirsty at the pump

You came to an FRS/BRZ enthusiast forum to post that you raced against one in a car that's much quicker? I'm sorry, what was the point of your post again? Illegal public exhibition of speed, reckless driving? If you buy an FRS/BRZ for neck-breaking acceleration, you're doing it wrong. I think you're just upset that you own a Neon.

People like the OP make me not want to purchase an FRS/BRZ for exactly this reason. It's like the car puts a stupid spell on other drivers around you.

I don't think the OP was the one that did the racing.... He just said that he found that thread.

My point was that as long as I have been waiting (and still waiting) to get the FR-S it is very annoying to see someone in a big ugly POS talk trash. And I know that the FR-S was never intended for straight line. I never wanted a it for straight line.I wanted for going sideways. The only other car I would rather get at the momment is the Nissan Silvia S15. Damn Nissian never imported the good ones.

Where's a Dragon? I haven't seen him recently! I hope he have boosted the FR-S and kick those punks. LMAO

Put the jokes on the side (no joke on Dragon planning to boosting FR-S), but seriously, apple & orange

I've had my car for a day now and I've already had half a dozen people fly by me in the left lane. Wonder if they thought we were "racing"?

Dodge - definition when used as a verb. "to move aside or change position suddenly, as to avoid a blow (to the wallet for owning one) or to use evasive measures (what you should do when someone tries to sell you one)

I genuinely forgot those cars existed until I read this thread.

The police showed up later and were all "Why did you beat up a little kid?" and I was all "Yo bro he was having fun doing some karate moves and that shit don't fly so I had to show him up."
The kid came up to me later and was all "Why don't you challenge me to Sodoku since I'm good at that." I was like "Yo little kid you're too young to be drinking!" What an idiot right!?

Anyway he has another friend his age who likes Power Rangers so I was thinking about tracking him down and challenging him to a fight to see if this one goes any different. Will post results.

Best post I've seen on this forum.

Dragonitti keeps it on the track though. Also, he was banned.
