Opticoat? Is it really worth it?
Hi. I just want to know if opticoat really makes big difference for brand new cars? Or just simple clay and wax only?

yes because paint is thin and chips easily. My car wasnt and I regret it. Was just like $400 after talking dealer down from $650 but I waved it off in the end.
If not, seal paint and wax it once every 2-3 months. Seriously, think about clear bra though or a wrap on bumper, hood and sides or if you can afford it now, even top.

![]() This is my experience with Opticoat Pro. Opticoat Pro was done on my car 3 weeks after I got it. There wasn't much paint correction done since my car was brand new. So best to get Opticoat Pro when car is brand new. I paid $400.00 which included my headlights, tail lights, rims, trims, windows & side view mirrors. Money well spent to protect the paint. Opticoat Pro makes washing the car so easy as the water sheets off. I use Optimum Instant Detailer every other wash and Optimum Spray Wax once a month. The cost will vary depending on what detail shop you use. Use a authorized installer of Opticoat Pro and not a dealership. You can check the Optimum website to see which detail shops are authorized in the state you live in. Just remember it's the prepping of the car before Opticoat Pro is applied is where it's labor intensive. Wash car, paint correction, clay, polish, wash again then Opticoat Pro is applied. The detail shop I used also applied Optimum Optiseal on top of the Opticoat Pro. It provides more slick and gloss. Yuh, I wished I got a clear bra but it would have cost me $1200.00. I'd rather use that amount of money to buy a Perrin Exhaust system. That's my next mod for my car.

I think it's worth it. But for the front end, a clear bra is more important. I had Xpel Ultimate installed on the hood, bumper, fenders, mirrors, headlights, door cups, and rear bumper opening 4 days after picking the car up. I washed and Opticoated the car prior to that myself and the car still looks just as good as the day I picked it up from the dealer and it's been over 3 years now.

I used opti coat on my car over a year ago and man does this stuff work well. It is a pain to apply and will also seal any existing imperfections that you may have on your paint. But in terms of paint protection it is great. In simple terms it is essentially giving your car a second clear coat. Would highly recommend.
