Can an un-married OFT be used between platforms, eg Mazda, BMW, Scion?

Is it simply a matter of updating the template for FRS?
And then connect to car and copy the stock rom.
And then upload appropriate FRS maps?

I believe that all the templates are the same, just a different background.
So just make sure it's completely updated, connect, copy stock rom and upload the correct roms to it through OpenFlash Manager.

The one for Caymans start at $599 and 911 Turbo is at $799. Wouldn't people just buy the cheapest tablet and update the template and use it on 911 Turbo?

Yep, this. Even if it's the exact same hardware, you will probably not be able to convert between them due to this.

Yep im not 100% , i do know guys who converted bmw oft to FRS/86/BRZ sucessfully.

They dont publish tunes for anything other than 86/brz/frs and they know the serial numbers of which type of oft was sold so they may hit you up for more cash if you bought a frs one and converted to Porsche then want the tunes for porche.

as per original post check with oft guys first

oft are actually alientech powergate 3 devices http://www.powergate-alientech.com/en/
