How is this overpriced and underpowered? 0-60 in 5 flat doesn't sound bad to me. And it won the last comparo against the BMW 335i.

How does 306 crank HP and 270TQ at 3600 pounds hang with a 335? Believe me, its underpowered. Well thats an opinion, IMO its underpowered.

IS350 doesn't stand a chance, lexus needs to turbo that thing fast!

The Lexus WON that comparison. That's not an opinion. I'm not one to turn down more power, but clearly the IS350 is a better, more engaging and fun car to drive than a 335i, despite not having a turbo. There's more to a car than whether or not it has a snail underhood.

I drive the 350 Fsport...fairly often, while nice, its underpowered in my opinion. It can "win" anything in the car mags, doesnt mean I agree. Ive only driven a 335 a handful of times, the most recent model being a 2012, so i dont know how engaging the 15-16 are. That being said, the Lexus, IMO, is kind of a dog. Not exactly slow, but it doesnt keep up with my Genesis. Again, its not a bad car but for 50 large its disappointing.

I drive a 2014 IS350AWD almost every week. I've also run our prior 2011 IS350AWD at Englishtown to repeated 13.8s. The IS has ample power to get around town and merge/pass on the highway, which is all you really need it to do. And my frame of reference is my daily driver, a stick 2014 Mustang GT. Are you sure your friend doesn't have a rebadged 250?

After 16 years no one has been able to crack the Toyota ECUs for the 1ZZ and 2ZZ engines. I would not hold my breath waiting for someone to crack any Toyota ECU. If you do then you would just be dead.

then new IS will still drive like a pig. Still a total commuter car unless you opt for the IS-f or the RC-f.

This sounds like the opinion of someone who hasn't driven any of the current generation entry level sport sedans. In terms of driving dynamics, the IS and the ATS are leading the pack

Does the Lotus Elise and it's 5,500rpm lift engagement count?
And is anyone even bothering to try and crack the 2zz ECU?

Lotus manufactured their own ECU. Try buying one of those things.

There were several attempts and promises over the last 16 years to crack the 2ZZ ECU which were unsuccessful. Anyone that is trying to squeeze extra performance out of the 2ZZ is running a stand alone ECU like Apexi PFC or AEM. No one is trying to crack the stock 2ZZ ECU anymore to the best of my knowledge.

Toyota's ECUs since about 2000 have been pretty much uncrackable. Piggy backs and stand alone engine management has been the solution.
