BTW, did the 10 series FRS cost the same when they were first sold?

It's the same for the hyperblue. The original s.b came with the full STi lip kit and STi wheels, but the follow-up had no lip kit and stock (painted) wheels. Maybe the RS1.0 and s.b didn't make financial sense and they scaled things back a little bit.

Perhaps, my local dealer has two rs 1.0s on the lot. Not that it means anything but they didn't do so hot near me, nor did the 10 series.

I don't know that it is purely an attempt at pulling more cash in since they are in such limited numbers that the higher price will not even cause a microscopic blip on their spread sheets. Toyota as a corporation probably spends more on toilet paper a minute than the extra revenue the RS 2 will create.
My belief is that it is stage one in moving the car into a wider market and appealing to a different demographic than the previous special versions. This is stage one in the changes to make the car more appealing to a wider audience and once they head down that road then things can go bad in a hurry. Hang onto your first gen models boys 'cuz it looks like the road ahead is going to get bumpy.

yep, next is adding all kinds of weight for "luxury items" and making the frs even further away from what it was supposed to be...

We have already seen the very gradual taming of the suspension starting in 15 so the cosmetics of this one did not take me by surprise. They gave the "look at me" crowd their version and now it is time to tone it down and target another group.

Right. So now we've seen how they want to draw in the pacemaker mob.

I guess this demographic group will be next

A 5-door hatchback with down-tuned hybrid engine, glass roof and HD LCD screens in the back seat.

I like the interior finishes and the "aero" package.
Not a fan of the color or price increase

I love that color on the Crosstrek. I wasn't sure I'd love it on the FR-S. Seeing the actual photos, I think it looks fantastic. Clearly, not appealing to everyone, but I love it. If I don't buy a HyperBlue BRZ or some other non-FT86 vehicle before it comes out, I will seriously consider the RS2.0.

I didn't care for the interior at first. Now the thought occurs to me it was chosen specifically to mimic the ugly wood laminate seen in more expensive old people's cars.

I for one love everything about it, and may be willing to take a huge hit to trade in my '15
