Today I'm Here ~ Tommorow I'm Gone ~ Changing Times ~
So, i believe everyone has noticed, but many members from day 1 with 2013's have gone and sold the cars and moved onto other cars.
So when you look at this forum today, someone you may talk too may also be gone tomorrow. The forum will change so many times in the future with changing members. It got me thinking...what will this place be like in 10 years? 15 years? 20 years? Will any of the 2013 guys still be around with that same car? So how much longer do you plan to keep the car? My plan, is too keep this car forever, how about yours? I made the poll for fun, i know not everyone knows exactly since life and plans always change so i left that option open in the poll, however i know some already have plans to move on after a lease for example so it's why i made the small years.

usually i keep my car 5 years+ depends on situtation i am in. most of my friends, they switch their car between 2-3 years from owning it. trying out different vehicles but you gotta waste more money in doing so. more car to try + a hole in money jar VS one car with no hole.

I purchased this car with the full intention of owning it at least a decade. This is my first new car purchase and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. In the past every car I've purchased has been pre-owned so I'd have to track down any issues or problems left behind by the previous owner. I've enjoyed not having to do that with my FR-S. Not to mention I truly do believe this car will be revered in the future.

There are a lot of forum goers that have sold the car but still lurk and contribute, which is awesome.
I bought my car new in 2012, and plan to keep it as long as I can. Maybe one day I will be an old geezer with a 'classic' 2013 BRZ in my garage =] |

New car every 5 years since they usually have over 200K miles at that point.
One more FRS (or something similar depending on what is out there in 2019) and then into retirement car. Forum wise, I am starting to get bored and will probably just slowly fade away over the next few months.

I don't ever purchase a car without the intention of keeping it until it turns to dust. I guess that's why my collection is growing. I've even had a major accident in one and it should have been totalled, but I got it restored to its former glory with a vengeance, lol.

Alfa GTV for 7 years.
Honda Civic S for 11 years. Dodge Grand Caravan for 18 years. I see a trend here. Hmm. The British TVR forum eventually morphed into Pistonheads and is still going strong. Very much worth checking in once in a while.

The last option should be "forever" bc even if it were to die, mine will get rebuilt.

LOL. Same here; it's starting to become a problem because I don't have space to store them all. I haven't gone so far as restore a totaled car though; I can't because I live in an HOA and we can't have non-running vehicles in the driveway... As for the original question, I've been in a number of forums, some die out when the original cars become discontinued but replaced by "updated" models, for example, MY.IS, an IS300 website, while others just seem to go on and on, like Miata.net., for Miatas. I think it has a lot to do with demographics of the owners. Seems like websites for cars that attract younger owners peter away when the next great thing pops up while older drivers stay in the for the long haul... |

I'll get rid of mine when I passit on to my 10yr old sister. By then I'll be driving a family sporty car or the BMW/Toyota Frankenstein. I'll even take the S-FR.

I bought mine intending to keep it only 3-4 years since let's face it, there are a lot of great cars out there. Was going to replace it with a 987.2 Boxster S eventually.
I've since re-considered. I had a chance to buy a 2009 Boxster S earlier than expected, and while it was a great car, I feel the FR-S suited my needs better. It's cheaper to track and equally fun in corners. Easier to work on. Because it's cheaper, any damages/crashes are less of an issue. So I sold off the Boxster S and decided to keep the FR-S for a while, maybe until it dies - at which point, LSX engine swap? I'm not really sure, but for now I voted 5-10 years.
