Official pics and press release
http://www.mazdausamedia.com/RX-Visi...cept#assets_71 Small, big tires would imply big power and no featherweight, it's concept concept concept, many years from release in all likelihood, reminds me of the FT-1 ![]() I'm basically live-forum-posting my emotions Edit: Meant FT86, not FT1 Last edited by strat61caster; 10-27-2015 at 09:46 PM. |

Those Headlights will change, the mirrors, the bumper will be changed, and the height will change he's hoping it actually gets that far. and most importantly, doesn't cost more than a lexus or BMW

While the design is obviously a concept, I'm glad they didn't go overboard and put a bunch of flashy or crazy design elements on it. It's fairly simple and elegant. It could very easily translate to a production body with some tweaks.
But the CEO did say that the rotary is still not ready for today's environment. It won't be coming anytime soon (years away it seems...), I don't think, but this is still exciting news. I would love to get back into a proper 2-seater rotary, and not one that has 20+ years on the body and a host of electrical nightmares (I used to drive a 2nd gen TurboII). |

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, acts like Toyota's FT-1 (whoopse meant ft86), so we're probably about 3 years away from being able to pick one up at the dealership. Edit: OPTIMISTICALLY Seeing as we're still waiting on a Skyactiv-D engine in the US, we may never get it at all... Edit 2: Give me a suspension as capable as the Miata and a buzzing beehive under the hood at an affordable price and I'm probably in. Last edited by strat61caster; 10-27-2015 at 09:43 PM. |

How about the Lexus LFA? The car Toyota built to show that they could.

The RX-Evolv concept car debuted in 2000, 3 years before the RX-8 saw production. That could be the timeframe we're looking at, although based on how Mazda itself admits that there are still hurdles to be cleared regarding the rotary engine, there's plenty chance it could be longer than that.

I'm guessing it won't hit showrooms until 2020 for the 100th aniversary of Mazda
