So... ~52 pounds maybe? That's based off zero science and 100% how I feel about things lol.
id be interested to see weights on seibon's products, but i'm going to talk to a carbon parts manufacturer here in Chicago to see if they'd be interested in doing some 86 products. just thought id see what your estimates were.

Most of the off the shelf hoods and trunks are heavier then the factory pieces.

Yeah, they're all disappointingly heavy. Doors are the best, but they only save like 50% of the weight. But they're also all OEM style and compatible with DD'ing the car. Mine are going to be no nonsense race car style.

Looking at the bright side, can we say the OEM doors are lightweight if aftermarket offerings are dissapointly.?

By doors you mean panels, or the whole door? Lots of safety bar and support add weight.

Our OEM doors are pretty light for modern OEM doors. And yeah, the main reason the Seibon carbon doors are so heavy is because they still retain an OEM safety bar. Additionally, they have the whole interior side of the door to mount speakers and handles and window buttons and all that. I would not.

Plus they're probably more concerned with strength than I would be, so they probably use more carbon than I would. I don't have to worry about my own door exploding and then me suing myself. That major company on the other hand...

As the Colin Chapman quote I've had in my signature for years says, "any car which holds together for a whole race is too heavy." Once I make my first part, I'll have the mold forever. If the panel/part gets obliterated, I'll just whip up a new one real quick.

Are you going to make a mold using your OEM doors?

Yeah. Assuming they're still flawless when time comes. My front bumper cover is already too flawed, so I'll definitely be borrowing a friend's for that bit.

But for the doors, I'd like to have shaved handles. So I'll make a mold of the factory door, then modify the mold by hand, then produce the door from that.

RIP in peace, old tranny. Poor car's probably going to think it's been abandoned. Today is Wednesday, and they said it won't be done until Monday. So it's going to sit... uncovered... in the weather for days.

I've got the ol' notchy 5th gear as so many people do. It's never really bothered me, but once I found out that they'd replace the whole tranny for free, I knew I had to take advantage of it.

And they've only heard it fully warmed up after driving it for an hour to the dealership. I wiiiiiiish I could be there on Monday morning when they find out what cold starts are all about. Like... if I could just be hiding in the bushes with some binoculars. That would be glorious.

Don't worry, mine really feels abandoned. It was left in the Bronx for 3 weeks and hasn't been driven since the second week of August because it threw a fit and stacked bearings on the inside of the engine. Subaru won't cover it so the engine is still in Pennsylvania getting put back together by @moto-mike while the car sits uncovered and engineless in my driveway. Compared to mine, yours must feel like it's been left at one of those fancy five star hospital hotels.

Is this a widespread thing or just specific to your situation?

The problem is widespread. A dealership that will cooperate is hit and miss. The one 30 minutes away will not. The one an hour away did.

Something like that. I'm pretty happy with the upgrade. I think I'll keep it.
