I've done it on every bike I've owned since I first discovered it on the motorcycle forums.
I was really curious to really try it on my '06 R6. This was the year Yamaha got busted for claiming it redlined to 17.5K when it didn't. All the power is made from 8K to around 16.2K rpm. I took all the bodywork off and with 0 miles on the odometer then went out on the freeway around 6am morning since there was hardly any traffic. I pinned 1st, 2nd and 3rd making sure to load the engine and keep the revs about 8K. 1st gear takes you to about 60mph, 2nd to like 110, 3rd to like 130mph IIRC. I put on about 24 miles, went back into the garage and drained the oil. I was surprised to see how dark it was and the fine metal shavings. Thats when I started using the Shell Rotella and changed it at 150 miles and then 300 miles. The manufacture runs them prior to leaving the factory so you're not really doing yourself any good by keeping it under 6K for 600 miles.

But first mods would be wheels and tires accordingly. And an exhaust to hear that boxer rumble.

First thing ima do is throw some 22inch blades on ma whip. . . . .
I should probably slap my self for saying that lmao but in all seriousness most likely basic wheel/suspension mods, maybe from trd or any reputable tuner, and maybe some basic power upgrades if my gf lets me. |

First mod is...
![]() This 18" or 19" BBS FI CNC in gunmetal. Unfortunately, it's available in 19"-20" only. Last edited by Dark; 11-17-2011 at 09:05 PM. |
