how does it rev?

i'm coming from a civic si that revs fast, and high. it's been compared to reving like a sport bike. so the frs will most likely rev slower, but just how slow? how does it feel? i just read the wired review and they mentioned that it felt lazy.

Is there any "rev hang" in-between shifts for the FR-S/BRZ like there is with the latest Civic Si?

i read somewhere that there is no rev hang, which will be nice.

I don't find any rev hang, but I do find it to rev VERY slowly. It is as if it has a massive flywheel. I would really like to see it rev more freely. This is one of my few gripes with the car.

I traded in my 08 Si for the FR-S, there's NO rev-hang whatsoever! Even after the ECU reflash on the Si, which removed 90% of it, the FR-S still drops revs faster.

It took me a little getting used to, definitely revs slower than what I'm used to but I don't mind it, I felt like even 6th gear has power. I don't need to downshift as much and when I do I find I don't need to blip the throttle nearly as much either to rev match.

I've set the shift light to 4000 and set the buzzer so I can break her in solid. Getting to 4k you can tell its about to get real good, can't wait to open her up after the first thousand miles.

No Rev Hang, but coming from my S2k the rev up is very slow, my heel-toe shift used to be a quick jab... now it's a deeper jab to rev match....

nice, i'll be going from an 07 si to the frs. i love my si, can you talk more about how the 2 compare?

I had an FG2 before my FRS. Like they are saying, it doesn't Rev quite as fast, but once you are up in the RPMs it pulls very nicely.

My main thing I must say about that two. RWD>FWD

Ever since I picked mine up, I can't believe that I have not owned a RWD car sooner.

I loved my Si too, had done a good bit of work to it too. I still like the feel and sound of the FR-S. The Si handled well, don't get me wrong, but the FR-S takes the cake there, and there is definitely something about RWD that is just.. amazing.

I feel like when you go WOT on the FR-S, you'll be shifting a little bit later than the Si, there's no VTEC system to kick up the rpms sooner (I had mine at 4k). But, I feel like you have a lot of power available to you at ALL rpms. As for the clutch, it's definitely soft but I feel it's similar. There's no rev-hang so... you just shift and go. The short throw makes it easy but I often catch myself shifting too slow on the first three gears by about 500rpm (noticeable by the revs kicking back up afterwards).

I notice I downshift a lot less, I can often engine-brake to keep speed, then regain speed in the same gear, even if I had lost a good 20mph. Maybe its the direct injection or just the Boxer itself, but it has power in all gears at any rpm practically. This is from a casual driving perspective, if you're doing track events obviously you're going to be more aggressive. Just saying that I don't feel that nagging "okay, this gear feels like I'm dragging ass now.." that I had in the Si at times of deceleration and having to accelerate again.

From my brother's perspective (who rode with me a bunch in the Si), he likes the FR-S because it doesn't sound like it's 'trying so hard' compared to the Si. Less engine noise, but good noise nonetheless.
