The Parrot is quality

Our South African Rand /ZAR is NOT quality

In the U.S. They are reasonable ...+- $450 on special

Add shipping and customs and the ZAR/USD exchange rate ... Which kind of makes it 'not worth it'...

Fair point. Thing is, would prefer something that has Waze or MirrorLink for my phone via Bluetooth.

Outdated maps on my Kenwood are killing me. Luckily I'm not in a huge rush.

My personal opinion, Stay away from those!

for a little more you can get a JVC system or the likes

For a fair amount more you can get the parrot or an android system.
Thanks Die$el for your input. Unfortunately i had already ordered the Android system from StopShop before i saw your post.

What i will do once i have received and installed the unit, take some pics and vids and post it on this thread.

Well I have heard of some guys who have had good experiences with some units. I suppose it depends on which specific model you get.

Looking forward to your review.

I did the Nexus 7 install - there are a few DIY's on the forum - The tablet runs around R1500-R2000 depending on the model and the install was easy enough. I now run everything through the nexus, its been awesome.

Where do you mount the tablet in your car?

Or is it in place of the radio?

Very interesting

I removed the factory double din and installed the nexus in its place, almost exactly the same size. I will try take a couple of pics in the next day or so so you can get an idea of how the final product looks. Its great, have the torque app running and it really lloks and works far better than the stock radio unit.

Great! Looking forward to this?

Can you send me a link to purchase this locally? Or let me know where you purchased this?

I am assuming the only downfall is you can no longer listen to radio ?

I got mine 2nd hand off Gumtree - http://www.gumtree.co.za/s-gauteng/n...v1l3100003q0p1

On the radio front, yeah there are apps for all the stations as well as international online stations like rockradio.com etc. The tablet runs through a head unit as an amp which I have installed in the glove box, so if you really want to listem to radio on the radio this is still possible. I will post pics later.

Search the DIY on this forum for a detailed break down of what you need and how to install, its pretty straight forward, a little bit of admin getting everything to talk to each other but on the whole its an awesome system
