"Come Race Me Bro" Encounters

I actually had my first encounter the other night on my way home. I live about 10 minutes from work so I don't get a lot of these. Anyways I am sitting at at a stop light less than an 1/8th mile from my apartments behind what appeared to be a slightly modified genesis. I noticed he had some kind of transformers looking symbol where the "h" is supposed to be. Light turns green and mr genesis decides he wants to drive slow, I did not want to drive slow so I change lanes and get into the next lane. He speeds up and matches me. I glance at him and he's looking at me. I look back forward and start to slow down. He slows down and I hear him downshift. I make a right turn into my apartments and he takes off fairly quickly.

Wasn't quite sure what to think. Never had this experience.

Almost every Genesis I encounter that has any type of mods usually pulls that similar type of stuff with me. In my head I'm like dude you're driving a Hyundai, slow your roll and fall back.

I find it interesting the Genesis (sedan) is trying so hard to be a luxury vehicle that they had to ditch the stigma of hyundai and create another badge. I also feel the Genesis coupe seem sort of "poserish" it has no heritage and has come late in the game attempting to copy other vehicles in its class

That's what happens when you're a new player in the game. They're nice cars, but unfortunately the sedan is priced at 43k (At least in Canada) and a lot of people wouldn't consider the Hyundai badge, regardless of how nice the car is.

The Coupe is actually one of the cars on my short list for replacing the FRS with.

Unfortunately I did not give him the Vin "I'm gonna rape you after" look. My look was more of a "what do you want?" Look.

I was late for work so I was driving at about 70-80 MPH on the highway and when I slowed down I saw a crappy Civic I passed like 5-10 minutes ago zoom past me, he was trying really hard, but he never saw the front of my car again, because BRZ can corner at twice his speed, especially on good tires.
I just laugh really hard when someone tries to race me, if it's a car that's much slower I'll just downshift and disappear from their sight, otherwise I don't bother.

Whenever someone tries to race me now, I give them the "Asian smile and peace sign".



One of two things happen:

1) They give me a "wtf" look
2) They keep on revving their engine

I feel ya bro! Take'm in the twisties where these racing machines really shine! No one can keep up. I usually race people in figure eights, and let's just say I have never lost yet. I can't even begin to tell you how many 18 wheelers I have put some serious hurt on.

I'm in my BRZ on the way home from work. I see a car is approaching fast (ish) behind me and as they get closer, I see it's a scion TC with two younger kids, probably in their teens late.

We jump on the highway and he pulls next to me and revs his car and does a small pull. It's loud, it's very loud and extremely obnoxious. I was on the phone with my girlfriend via bluetooth and neither of us could hear each other speak.

It's rush hour, the highway is tight and most cars are going 55-65mph.

I didn't even glance at the TC in the slightest, not once. Why would i want to race someone during rush hour traffic?

He pulls away and speeds off, though the car must have been NA because he drove away aggressively, but slowly.

Older lady in a 12' Camry "raced" me I guess on my way to work, well I don't know if she was trying to race me or not but she peeled off on the green super fast as if to anticipate me doing the same thing lol then immediately hit traffic. I took off normal so I guess she won that battle lol.
