As far as Subarus go, there's no documentation needed to sell a car except the invoice--which is supposed to be sent days before the car gets loaded onto a truck.

Maybe it's the salesperson's day off, or he/she isn't checking the status of your car...

I think I'm getting hosed then. They are having to get it from another dealership 400 miles away they tell me but I'm not sure about this.

If they are charging over MSRP, and having to trade another dealer for it, then yeah you're getting hosed.

Did they promise you they were getting allocated one?
Nothing much you can do if they lied.
Just find another dealer and hope they haven't sold theirs yet.
Also do a search with 400 mile radius for other Subaru's to maybe find which one they were talking to.
Work directly with them.

Well I got them to come down in price so I take delivery next week. Ironically my steadfast 1996 Subaru Impreza which has faithfully carried me for 6 years and my father 14 years before then must have sensed my betrayal and promptly died in the parking lot of the dealership. Probably the starter, i would have rather broken down in a less expensive car repair place.
Pumped for my HYPER BLUE though.

You should agree upon a mileage rate for their transport that gets deducted from the price. Paying msrp or more for a brand new car with 400 miles on it is effing ridiculous.

Let me know if you need an emailed quote to show them and convince them that this car shouldn't go for more than MSRP =)

I also find it strange how your car died...maybe they do have feelings.
