I am curious to see how the beastronix work compared to the pedal dance. It surely add a big convenience factor. it may also be interesting to disable the ABS for testing and such.
For the brake ducts, I am curious as well. On my car car I used the APR duct in the fog light location but you have to remove the windshield washer bottle. At least that's what I did. I remember RobiSpec saying that it was not a good idea to use the fog light for brake duct as it added some unnecessary drag anyways. So I believe the main bumper opening may be a better idea. TogueFactory has some mounts for this location. good photos here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=881749 ![]() Can't wait to see your solution there as well.

We've looked at those options, and we'll almost certainly be making something of our own. I finally got our 3D printer up and running, so we'll probably be making some of our own mounts and ducts.

As for brake ducts, there are few options for it. One is famous foglight ver. One is near radiator. One is small fin brake duck.
There's Toyota/Subaru Racing brake duct not a lot of ppl know about. Here's a pic ![]() Over all it's cool part to have, if you're track geek... but realistically speaking, how many driver will actually use it how it was meant to use it for? 90% of the time, just upgrade your pads and fading issue will go away. Brake pad need to be in certain temperature to use it in full potential. Keeping it cool doesn't mean, it's better... But hey, I'm no expert here and I bet you guys will do some tests to prove if it's worth having or not. Just my 2 cents |

We haven't been testing much lately, and it's time for an explanation. We'd been keeping this under the table until it was resolved, but thankfully we've got everything sorted out now.
Back in July when we bought our Tarmac 2s from Racecomp, we threw all of them on the dyno. Graphs are posted earlier in this build thread, and the more observant among you may have noticed we didn't post anything about the rears. We found an issue with one of the rears that was displaying some funny characteristics at high bump settings and high speeds. We brought it to Racecomp's attention, who agreed something wasn't right. We decided to give them a chance to fix it before we publicly cried foul. The shocks came off the car, and went back to KW. We caught KW at a bad time, with various people on vacation, and it took a little bit of hassling on Racecomp's part before they finally got the right people to dyno the shocks and find the issue we were talking about. I guess it's a little out of the ordinary for them to have a customer dyno all the shocks as soon as they open the box. They found an issue with improper preload set on one of the check valves, which caused a delay in the oil refilling at high speeds. If you're familiar with statistics and process control, you know that sometimes even the best companies have mistakes slip through the cracks. I certainly wouldn't let this turn me off from buying Racecomp shocks. We're still convinced they're one of the best deals out there for track-oriented suspensions. In any case, the shocks are fixed now. We'll be back on track next weekend (the 29th) and fully expect to best our times since we're on a fresh set of RE71Rs. We'll also be testing out a Grimmspeed front strut bar, and installing our AP Brakes. Summary Dyno'd rear shocks, found an issue, Racecomp took care of us. Lesson learned? It's always a good idea to test shocks on a dyno, and it's a great idea to buy them from Racecomp. They were nothing but helpful through the whole process, even if KW did drag their feet a little. Do you think it is an isolated issue? Were you able to feel something iffy on track, or just noticed on the shock dyno? I know KW is a pain for warranty and can deny based on ride hieght/measurements, as well as they were down a shock tech or two this summer as we also had to have a T2 rebuilt on my buddies STI(the seal on the top of the shock came loose, sorry for not know the technical term). RCE and KW did awesome at resolving the issue, makes me glad on my purchase of their products. |

I am also having the same issue, running DTC60s, but on the stock calipers. I get it during straight line braking as well on a couple of tracks. |

After hearing how far up KW's chain of command Racecomp went to get this taken care of, I can't imagine corrective action hasn't already been taken. After KW drug their feet the first time, Racecomp starting kicking down doors and getting some real important people's attention. Quote:

Which Beastronix box configuration did you end up getting ? One button basic ? or you asked him for a specific setup ? I am thinking about buying one but I'd like to get 2 buttons one for EBD and one for ABS. This way no confusion when I am on the track

Is there a post I am missing about this box? I haven seen it mentioned, and can't find anything. I was curious if my issues were to much pad/camber, or related to brake bias, or something. Most of my other BRZ/FRS friends experience the same thing and we are all on different pad/tire combos. |
