Just saw the magazine yesterday and picked it up and read through it a little. Have to say that I was a bit surprised when I saw who they declared to be the winner.

Part 1 of the contenders posted online, and agreed winner is surprising given the competition.

Is the Cayman GT4 in the competition? Because if it is, it's gonna win for sure.

Updated with RC F, AMG C63 S, and Miata Clubsport videos.

Interesting to see Pobst spin the RC F due to its inconsistent handling behavior. Sloppy programming of the electronic torque vectoring differential?

The Miata looked plenty fun on the track and ran a 1:50.7, beating out the BRZ which ran a 1:51.3 a few years back. Strange to hear about brake fade though given how light the car is and the Brembo brake package that comes with the Clubsport trim.

And yeah if the Cayman GT4 is in the competition, I'd think it'd be an odds-on favorite.

It is in the competition, and let's just say it didn't rank as high as I expected it would... And out of all the cars there, I'd say the GT4 is my personal favorite.

How in the world did they decide on that group of cars for a competition like this? It seems to me the most likely explanation is the companies that spend the most advertising dollars with their magazine each get a contender. What a joke.

Pretty sure it's their favorite handling cars released/tested in 2015. What new-for-2015 cars would you have picked?

Ahhhh....I see now. Thanks for pointing that out, DarkSunrise. I didn't realize that was the criteria. A quote from the article:
"Which all-new sports car is best for the driver who loves to drive?"
So yes, they are looking for an "all-new" car. My criticism about those being the best driver's cars is unjustified.
Instead, I'll sit back in my comfy chair and complain about them calling these things "sports car(s)".

I think you've got a valid criticism about calling some of these cars "sports cars", like the CTS-V sedan or Golf R hatch. Definitely stretches the definition of that term!
