Price gouge warning: Avoid Kieth Pierson Scion in Jacksonville, Florida

Hey all. Just spreading the word here.

I'm pretty interested in getting a Scion FRS, but I had a very negative experience with the above dealership. They have two FR-S's, manuals, one in silver the other in black. I want the black one, and the kieth pierson website advertises their black on for about 26,300.

Until you go to the dealership. Then you see a 5,000 dollar "ADM" fee. Advanced Market Value. Because the car is "rare". And this is on top of an inflated MSRP of 27,200 dollars. Needless to say I told them to drop it down to 26 or they won't get my business. Of course they couldn't do it, so I told them I'll be contacting scion customer service.

I just hope nobody falls for their bull. I'm contacting customer service tomorrow to complain. HOpefully they investigate this price gouging.

That seems to be blatantly in violation of Scions Pure Pricing. Definitely contact the manufacturer. Even 26,300 seems inflated. I paid 25,094 for mine here in Columbus and that car had not even been on the lot for 12 hours. I know for a fact that the dealership I purchased my car from has sold at least 3 FR-S' in the past week and none have sat on the lot overnight. If they aren't marking up for "Advanced Market Value" nobody should be.

Keep us posted. Hopefully, Scion can persuade these dealerships to stop being ridiculous...

Report it To SCION. They get in trouble for it. Make sure to get some proof pics or document too.

Report them to Scion!

Pure Price - a Definition

Pure Price means that the dealer price you see posted - in an ad, on the dealer's website, or on a menu display board in the dealership - is the price you will pay. This includes vehicles, accessories, and even finance and insurance products

Of course they probably have a disclaimer or something on their website saying these prices are subject to change at any moment. But it does seem to fall under false advertising to display one price on the website and quote something different when you come in.

Hang in there and look for a different dealer. This car is worth the drive if you need to pick it up a few hundred miles from home.

Was just there. Been cruising the local dealers for an FR-S. They're either ADM'd out the ass or automatics.

May have to take a road trip with the car trailer up to SC.

You check out Coggin Toyota at the Avenues? Was just there scoping out the 2 they got in on friday (1 mt 1 at gray/black). They optioned them out but nothing outrageous (added tint, bespoke, and scion service package) and were selling at msrp. even the tint markup was reasonable ($400) which considering normal tint is ~175-250 around here thats not horrible. selling at MSRP per sticker.

I'm an interenet manager at a Toyota/Scion dealer and unfortunately, they are allowed to mark them up. The dealer just has to advertise the markup on their website and on the dealer showroom menu.

Hang in there and look elsewhere. My dealership is not marking them up because they don't believe in it. We have a great customer basis and it is truly worth the wait. Heck, I can order you one as long as you're willing to wait 4-6 months and don't mind driving to Virginia Beach, VA lol

Update: So I went again to try a different sales rep but it's the same thing. They won't budge on the 5,000 dollar price increase.

I informed the sales manager that I'll be calling scion. Which I did. Clevername, Scion is putting in a case report against them to check it out, not necessarily because of the 5,000 dollar price increase, but more due to the fact that the price they advertised on their website is not what they have on the dealer lot. So there you go. They didn't even update their website, and that seems to be against the rules.

I've also contacted several other dealers in the southeast florida region and they all have some sort of increase... either a simple market value increase, or a 1-4000 dollar "dealer fee".

Quite simply, I do not think I will be getting an FRS. Which is unfortunate because I like the car a lot, I'm just not going to line the stealership's pockets with my cash.

Just called them. Same thing, 5000 dollar mark up.

Silly thing is, if they just dropped their price back down to MSRP, at this point I'd pay for it. They have no clue that they would gain a more loyal customer doing that (and I've been telling them that!) lol

Whatever. I'm done. I hope they get theirs.

Scion will more than likely fine them and take away some inventory. Like I said, I can order you one with whatever you want and I can even register/title it in FL. You just have to be willing to wait and the price will be whatever it is on the sticker.

Don't let the dealers down there get you down. Not everyone is like that and I completely understand not wanting to throw away money just for dealership profit. My processing fee is $499.99.

You have to realize they don't care if they can get a loyal customer that might shop for cars there in the future or getting services done. They are looking for quick money and hoping a sucker will go for it. Let's just see how these small dealerships will be in the future, or if they even have a future
