Have it back and its incomplete....ran out of funds temporarily till I can afford Vorschlag solution for can-bus.....Would of had more than enough if it stayed within the confines of the budget we agreed upon...but things happen on builds like this.

What's interesting is the power steering still works, although in a degraded sense.....totally drivable and only noticed as degraded in very slow speed driving like 5MPH or slower..and then it just requires a little more force than normal....Found out in goes in a default mode if a can signal can not be recognised.....which still provides assisted steering.....

My (totally non-researched and unfounded) hypotheses would be that it is defaulting to a safe-at-speed level of boost. When it receives a CAN signal indicating that the car is traveling at a slower speed, then it will increase the boost.

Hey,

Just a quick question for the team that was involved with this kit, what is the measurement from the front of the bell housing to the centre of the shifter on that new tremec you installed?

I bought a salvage frs for the purpose of doing a LS swap,I can get any stock part off any car very easly and relatively cheap,I have a ls2 with 58x reluctor already and I'm looking for a tranny that will line up good..I realize it was stated that this build used a new tremec design but I'm trying to avoid buying brand new parts due to being on some what of a budget..through some research I found that a 04-06 GTO t56 lined up good with the competitor ls swap kit but after a lot of reaserch I decided to go with the vorschlag kit when it becomes available..so my question is will a stock t56 work and line up with the vorschlag kit..for example a 99-02 t56(out of a camaro) measures 29.5" from the front of bell housing to the centre of the shifter,04-06 GTO t56 measures 33"..will either of theses trannys work with the vorschlag kit and line up with the stock frs/BRZ shifter location or do I have to bite the bullet and call tremec to get the new ls magnimum xl?

Thanks,
Craig

Craig,... not part of the team that developed this kit but the owner, as far as Vorshlag coming on this forum and commenting,.. not sure thats going to happen. they would have to become a vendor to ft86 and they are not. Best thing to do is try and call them, and be patient as they are usually very busy with four or five projects. What I know as far as a T56 or trying any other transmission is that almost all OEM shifters made as of late are remote with linkages, you would have to adapt one of those or make your own, ideally you want the feel and ease of a non-remote shifter were it directly lines up with the OEM hole....the Magnum XL does that perfectly and in my opinion is optimum for the swap, it feels and shifts positive with no slop....zero!....Coming from a Mustang with the Getrag MT82 slush box I was extremely pleased going non-remote.

Thanks for your reply and your helpful information!,I will get in contact with vorschlag and tremec this coming week to try to figure a few things out..and BTW sick build man,I love it!!! I'd be lieing if I said I wasn't a little jealous :p..I can't wait to see the final product and the full vorschlag kit in production.

Best wishes to you and your family(and your car :p),
Craig

I don't have the bellhousing measurement, but from the BACK of the bellhousing to the center of the shifter stub was 28.4" or so.

Thank you very much for this info,By the measurement you gave me I will have to go with the tremec magnum xl to match up with the vorschlag kit.

Thanks again,
Craig

P.s is there any idea when the full vorschlag kit will become available to the public?

I was wondering if you had the part numbers for the custom transmission from tremec vorshlag ordered, and the numbers for the front drive accessories on the engine. I want to do this swap with the lsx454 but I haven't been able to get that info yet. They say a 0 kit will be offered at years end or so but its just hard parts no guide or parts list to complete it the way they did. I would give a extra $1000 just for the extra info part numbers for trans, fuel system, and other miscellaneous parts needed and a diy wiring guide to get it done with as little hastle as possible. Maybe they will reconsider.

Vorshlag LSX kit

A 454!!! Are you trying to create a burnout machine? I am thinking a shorter stroke LS setup for higher rpm would be a better fit for this vehicle, at least for road racing. I am thinking build an alloy 4.8 or use the 4.8 crank and rods to de stroke an LS1/2/3. I've read the 4.8 with cams and heads can do around 470 chp at 7000 rpm which would be a nice fit, the only issue being the weight of the iron block. Throwing the 4.8 internals into a 5.3 alloy block would achieve the same thing with less weight.
The massive torque from a long stroke LS will make it quite difficult to get traction out of corners I'm thinking. But that may be less of an issue for drifting or if you just want a tyre smoker.
Either way, please start a build thread! 👍🏻

We will put together a FAQ for the BRZ like we did for the BMW E36 that will contain those part numbers. The front accessories aren't a buy-and-bolt solution. We made a couple custom parts to make it all work right. I'd imagine we will package those parts for the swap also. We are starting to build some competition cars with electric assist steering swapped into them, so I expect they will have the same accessory kit except for the AC parts.
