Our reliability stats for the FR-S and BRZ now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were doing when a year younger.)

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2015 FR-S: 13, low, small sample size--we especially need more people for this one
2014 FR-S: 6, low
2013 FR-S: 35, moderate--initial common problems are receding into the past

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 74, < 1

Not all cars are created equal. Not all cars experience 100% the same thing. Not all cars will have issues. Focusing on negativities is more popular, so you are bound to find them. So, I agree with you. Plus 30k on a car is a lot for me... last one I bought for $8000 and that was a lot... lol

My 90 pickup right now is full of rattles, my parents Nissan truck is as well and our Rav4.

We've updated our reliability stats for the FR-S (and BRZ) to include owner experiences through September 30, 2015.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2015 FR-S: 10, low, small sample size
2014 FR-S: 12, low
2013 FR-S: 31, low

Notably, after the initial common problems (chirping fuel pump, headlight condensation) these cars don't appear to have had others.

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 79, 2

We'll have further updates in February and in May. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

We've updated our reliability stats for the FR-S to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources.

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2015 FR-S: 8, low, small sample size
2014 FR-S: 6, low
2013 FR-S: 39, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 77, < 1

We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

We've updated our reliability stats for the FR-S and BRZ (combined in the stats) to include owner experiences through March 31, 2016, making them nearly a year ahead of other sources.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2015 FR-S: 7, low, small sample size
2014 FR-S: 11, low
2013 FR-S: 32, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 78, < 1

Thank you, once again, everyone who has been helping. Next update in August.

We've updated our reliability stats for the FR-S and BRZ (combned in these stats) to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2015 FR-S: 0, low, small sample size
2014 FR-S: 11, low
2013 FR-S: 29, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2013 FR-S: 76, 2

We'll have further updates in November and next February. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

Interesting thread this has become😆

Idk about everyone else but to me reliability means the car will function properly while getting me from A to B without breaking down or giving me the business lol. Things like rattling and chirping can be tolerated as long as in the long run it doesn't destroy my car as a fun daily driving vehicle. Question really is is that noise okay by you as long as the car runs fine or would you have no noise issue but function issues? First choice seems more reasonable to me.. it's annoying but at least I could run my business.

When you look to buy a car there's certain quality you're looking for. Having said that that's why we have a diverse market so people can choose what they want base on their pocket/wallet or base on their own circumstance.

My cars served me well and is continuously doing so. Not planning to sell my baby anytime until she gives out 💯% I bought it and I accepted it. If anything my plans to keep her forever and getting another car when financial situation allows TWINs 4ever!!

When I first bought my BRZ, after reading all the "problems" about this car on these forums, I was sure I'd have to take my car in to the the repair shop to get something fixed.

Four years and ~70K miles later, I'm still good. Other than a battery replacement, new tires, and fluid changes, I haven't done any other maintenance yet on my car. Yes, I have chirping crickets (still present), foggy tail lights (condensation stopped after 2 years), and a 2nd gear that's impossible to shift into when it's cold (solved with Pentosin MTF-2).

I also have aftermarket headers, intake, and 1 less cat than the stock car. I drive my car hard over pavement, grassy dirt, rocky country road, and slippery back roads when it rains. I rev to 8K RPM once a month, and fill up with E85 8 months out of the year.

I'm still driving on my original brake pads, clutch, & spark plugs too.
It has yet to leave me stranded on the side of the road.

^^ Yep me too. Original brake pads and rotors, clutch and spark plugs. 77k miles and all is well other than a few gremlins that really don't matter.

Context is important for these statistics. How many of those sampled were going in for things that had nothing to do with reliability (such as fuel pump crickets)?

Checked the site, most of these are fuel pump squeaks, tail light condensation, or other small squeaks and rattles. Half of these have nothing to do with reliability. Some people are just reporting multiple instances of the same problem too.
