late 2013 MY oil burning smell

all,

I've been getting the occasional faint oil burning smell as I pull up to stop lights or into my garage ever since I went full bolt-ons and E85 (been about 1500 miles since then). I've inspected all the common oil leak points (like the cam seal plate) and I don't see any evidence of oil leakage. I also have noticed no change in oil level on the dipstick.

Is this blow-by being burned? Should I do a compression test?

I'm going FI in a couple months so I just want all my ducks in a row before then.

FYI My car was made in the last month of the 2013 production.

Catless resonated front pipe, overpipe, and OFH. Perrin 2.5 resonated catback. OFT E85 tune customized by myself.

New gaskets everywhere. All bolts torqued down tight, no obvious leaks. The car runs very well and feels strong. So strong I stomped my buddies 2006 BMW z4 3.0i manual pretty bad.

I have the AT just FYI

I wouldn't worry. If anything it is probably from running no cats and e85. Just keep an eye on your oil level, oil temps, fuel trims, kc, iam, afr and you should be good.

I would worry if you aren't experienced in tuning.

well I ran no cats and E85 on my WRX and never smelled burning oil. It just seems odd.

I have a good bit of experience tuning, so that's not a factor. It smelled that way before I tuned it and was just OTS stage 2 E85.

I smell burning oil when driving my FRS hard. No leaks even have dye in the oil can't find nothing. I also have a catch can (sh*t one but better then nothing) I am also catless but on 94 octane. Oil level never drops so I don't worry about it anymore.

You may consider investing in an oil catch can since you are going FI anyway. It will catch blow-by should there be any (excess). Also take a peak into the intake tract and throttle body to see if you have any oil residue. I know that some are going to tell you that a compression test isn't necessary, but why not take that extra step before going FI? At the very least for peace of mind. Good luck, and keep us posted.
