Clayrush, would it be possible for you to get a close up photo from the side of the front license plate bracket? It looks like it is mounted lower than most of the toyota-released photos I've seen and I'm curious as to whether the bracket is made to fit a specific section of the bumper or if it is a generic part.

My front license plate also is mounted lower.
You can see the bracket is mount on the top section of the front grill.

The front plate bracket is supposed to be mounted just like the other Toyota release picture. I think the dealer mounted it wrong (in a good way). I don't have the picture of the bracket, but I'll upload it later.

I don't know - my front plate bracket is mounted just like yours, pkny. I can't imagine that it's a coincidence. I think it looks MUCH nicer mounted this way!

I took my front plate off already.
The plates placement goes wherever they fell like drilling the holes for it. It is mounted using self taping screws right in to the plastic trim in the grill.

Ask your dealer not to mount front plate kit! I still have mine (with those horrid screws) in the trunk. Most people I talked to, appreciate this car and won't hurt it in such a way.

Some of the dealers I've spoken to in NorCal have flat our refused to not drill. They claim liability issues.

EDIT: PKNY, not Clayrush, are the holes that they drilled very noticeable? I'm thinking worst case scenario I can ask them to drill the holes as high up as possible, but still within the black plastic section. Might be hidden by the grill.

Just tell them you'll use tow hook mounting kit.

Dealers don't care since you leave with temp license anyway.

Just tried that argument, they said nope even if I installed it prior to driving off the lot. They claim they have no way of proving it if I just took it off after leaving. Which is stupid because in reality you could technically replace the bumper (which I'm sure doesn't have the VIN on it) and they wouldn't be able to prove that they drilled it before selling it. Seems like it could be solved pretty easily with some paperwork if they want to cover their asses: "Customer opts to use alternative front license plate mount" with signature or something.

I'm on the fence... I have a deposit elsewhere so I'm hoping they'll pull through but they've been equally unhelpful at times. It has definitely soured my experience.

Except it seems like the way they mounted it might inhibit airflow over the radiator.

This is the holes they drilled:

Mounting the bracket higher just like the other Toyota release pictures:

Notice that the bracket fits better when mounted higher.

It is barely noticeable from 1 ft, and not noticeable further away.
