Geico increasing insurance premiums for FRS

Geico informed me that Scion FRS owners across the nation is getting a increase in their comprehensive and collision coverage. Mine increased by $50! No accidents, citations or claims filed within 5 years!.....

Based on some insurance data, they estimated that the cost of repair and frequency of accidents for the Scion FRS is high therefore the increase in premiums.

Time to shop around for better auto quote

I hope you are not impacted...

switch anyway geico is garbage insurance, my insurance with nationwide and an OEM policy is cheaper than any of the other major carriers. people probably don't know that you can get an OEM only policy butt everyone who is eligible should.

Ya, I knew it was here and still had a hell of a time finding it. The article that Pickle linked was very telling since it isn't just the FRS but across the board. I bet they are telling everybody it is just their XXXX car that has gone up though so it looks more like the vehicle is responsible and not the company.

OEM-only endorsement policy sounds good and I am all for it but OEM parts costs twice or more than non-oem part and I am sure the insurane premiums are higher to reflect that.

My brand new car with only 6000 mile had my windows busted by a large object while driving on a freeway. Repair shop used a non-OEM windshield and it looked as if it didn't fit. I complained to Geico had them replaced it with a OEM windshield.

MOral of the story is you have to fight to have your insurance company to use OEM parts or they will use cheaper non-OEM.

Then few months later got hit by another smaller object that chipped my windshield again....i am just unlucky I guess.

but you cannot just fight with them and get OEM parts its in your policy that they can use aftermarket garbage parts unless they don't fit, and my OEM endorsement policy was the cheaper than any of the other major carriers.

My premium went up 16 a month as well on Geico. I'll be shopping around the next 6 months and hopefully it will go down a bit since I'll be 25 by then with nothing on my record.

my geico insurance raised in July when my policy renewed itself

i took a defensive driving course and it pretty much took care of the spike

they are still the cheaper insurance for myself, everything else is 50-75 dollars more per MONTH!

Looks like I just dodged the price hike, switch from Geico to Mercury in April. I think I saved over $500 per year with 4 cars on the policy, and that was before the rate increase on the FR-S.

Yeah, they raised my premiums about a month ago too. Anybody know if it was just for the FR-S or did they do the same for the BRZ?

I'd never use any of these national insurance companies that focus totally on price. Mostly because of who owns geico and progressive, and because they are both so expensive.

One of the few good things about MA is how dirt cheap our insurance is.
