umm more than that...

If they offered a power train warranty for self installs, then people who have blown up their motor on the dyno with a turbo, would buy this kit, install it and claim this kit caused the failure... Having a certified mechanic do the install, verifies that the drivetrain is in good condition from the start, that the install is done correctly and I believe that ASE certified techs are required to have some type of insurance against negligence which further protects all parties. The instructions can be a bit intimidating, but compared to other Edelbrock supercharger installs, this one is probably the easiest by far. Just take a look at the other available instructions for the C7 Corvette or the Jeep superchargers. |

The warrantied tune is on 91, is there an alternative for running E85?

This will be my FI solution come next spring. I've got catless headers currently and 93oct around here, so i'd expect an extra ~10-20hp there potentially. I love the dyno results -- torque for spirited street driving looks great.
Question as I'm not familiar with the whole 'CARB' thing (living in Indiana). The CARB tune is essentially meant to meet strict cali regulations on 91oct right? Is there a 'non-carb' tune available to unlock some of that restricted performance for states not requiring CARB? Thanks all -- Pumped for the spring! |

If you look at Edelbrock's other offerings, there isn't really a separate non-CARB tune available. Most likely, their CARB tunes are optimized for 91 but will run on higher oct. Since you have after market exhaust, you will need a custom tune anyway, so I think you'll get your added bump that way. |

We believe this has been brought up before, but just wanted to clarify for those concerned about our CARB tune.
We have two versions of the kit available for pre-order from Edelbrock certified dealers: 1556 w/ ECUtek kit 15560 without ECUtek Kit For those of you that already own ECUtek hardware, we will have our CARB tune downloadable from our website similar to what we have for our Chrysler, Ford and GM platforms. Seen here: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/.../support.shtml As for fuel types, E85 or 93-oct specific tunes are not offered. However, this does not rule out that this may be an option for later development. |
