I've only ever seen one and he mounted it in the center console - removed the cup holder and bolted the straps in there.
Can't remember who it was though

@Taro and I are working on a way to mount it to the trunk lid. I have also seen mounts that put it up against the front of the seat with a gap for seat adjustment

I have a 2.5 lb 1A 10BC extinguisher mounted to my roll bar next to the driver's side door. I choose this location because it is accessible after exiting the car. If the car is on fire I want to get out first and then not have to dive in to get the extinguisher.
I will try and remember to take a picture of it to post tonight.

Thanks for the comments. I think I'm leaning towards putting it in the center console where the cup holders are. For the most part it will not be in the car, it is just for HPDE days.

The Bracketeer UFEB1317 Universal Fire Extinguisher Bracket is now compatible with the Kidde metal cradle AND H3R Halon extinguisher cradles ... making it the prefect track-prepped addition.

Is that the H3R Halguard? I was thinking of mounting one up in my car. My buddy has his mounted on the side of the transmission tunnel on the passenger side. Worked well on his STI. I don't know if it will work for the BRZ.

Unless it is a dedicated track car mount it in the trunk where it belongs. In the event of a collision or roll over it WILL come out of the mount and turn into a tumbling bludgeon of death. There is no good reason on earth to need a FE in the passenger compartment of a street car.

My first Supra was NA until I dropped a custom turbo kit on the car. With 120k miles and running rich on some fouled plugs, the cat started to get gummed up then was glowing bright enough for someone behind me to honk me from the highway to the shoulder. They shouted something was on fire or glowing under my car. I jumped out just in time to see some part of the underside beginning to catch fire. Maybe it was built up oil or gasket material or something, but I recalled the guy I bought it from left a small fire extinguisher next to the spare. I quickly grabbed it and managed to spray the underside before any damage occurred. I was real lucky I had the extinguisher or the car would have easily gone up in smoke. Did it work out fine with it in the boot? Yea. Would it have been faster inside? Maybe. But having worked EMS and seen car fires and been through that situation, having a fire extinguisher close is my personal preference. |
