Street Blower?

Has anyone ever heard of an FR-S / BRZ with a street blower installed? My mind works along strange pathways and I'm trying to decide what major mod to do next, after exhaust of course. Is there such a unit that would fit? I'm thinking I don't necessarily want a 300-400hp jet, so a good street blower would do the trick at around 225-250hp in the end. Opinions?

Hi ya, FRed-S .......

@swarb was being kind to you ...... and pointed you in the right direction.....

I suggest you roam around the other sections of the forum before you start a thread ....... or, the "forum wolves" may have some fun with you.....

Personally, I don't think this engine should be force fed air .....

Thanks humfrz,
I looked over that page swarb sent the link. I'm a newbie with the car and would love it to be a bit faster. Well, maybe more than a bit. So this is going to be a stupid question. Is a street blower and a supercharger the same thing?

Yeah. Blower is a very old school name for a supercharger.

I'm older lol. All my car experience is from the 80's and early 90's. That's what we put in our cars.

I've heard of superchargers being referred to as blowers plenty of times. Just never heard of the term "street blower".

Seems that term refers to carbureted cars with the huge intake on top of the supercharger

As I always understood the term, it refers to a blower that wasn't necessarily sticking out of the hood of the car lol.

Welcome to the "senior" group ......

Yep, back in the day, one could stick a "blower" (supercharger) on an engine to increase power. A "street blower" was one that you just didn't put the hood back on the car (or cut a big hole in it) ......

Increasing the power of this machine is a slippery slope.

You may consider starting with a free-er flowing, drop in air filter and an aftermarket muffler. Now, those won't give you much "real" power ...... but your ear dyno will make you feel it is more powerful......

Air filter is a very cheap and efficient mod. 5ish who for 50 dollars. Plus as humfrz said, ear dyno loves it.

There
