I've been running Mobil 1 0w-30 for 73,000 boosted miles now (117,000 km). Haven't had any issues yet. So I assume 0w-30 is relatively safe at least.

Then again the tune has a factor in it as well. Too rich will ruin your oil. Still trying to get my tune fixed.

So far I've been boosted for 2-3 weeks and 700 miles. SBD stage 1 (version 2) turbo, I'm making 275whp @ 10psi on 93 pump gas, completely stock everything else except a catback. I ran it pretty hard at first because it was new and fun but now that I'm getting used to it, I'm starting to drive more conservatively. I generally stay off the boost to conserve fuel and ease into the boost when need be, only downshifting and going full boost once in a while. Anyway there's 22k miles on the engine and per my tuner I'm running Mobil 1 5w40. I don't have any plans on tracking the car, it's my DD. I'd like to track it but I drive so many miles that I don't want that additional wear and tear on something that I need to get to work every day.

My turbo install and dyno tune was done by the same place and they did an amazing job. You can't underestimate the importance of a proper install and tune that's done by the same person. IMO it's well worth the money to let the professionals handle every aspect of the install/tune. This way they did the install and there aren't any unknown factors regarding the install from their perspective when it comes time to dyno tune.

The car runs absolutely solid. I'm going to drive it conservatively for the most part but that boost comes in VERY handy with the craziness of downtown Atlanta highway driving. If I see a spot open in a lane I need to be in then I can get there in a moment's notice, pulling multiple car lengths ahead so I'm not cutting anyone off. I've had assholes who pace me, then speed up and pace you to make sure you can't get over... that sort of thing happens all the time and it happens to everyone, there are tons of assholes on the road here. The other day there was a guy who was flooring it to keep me from getting over (I could hear his exhaust, it sounded like he was WOT or close to it). I don't know why people act this way but lucky for me, there was nothing he could do to prevent me from effortlessly pulling several car lengths on him then getting over to the lane I was trying to get to. Atlanta highways aren't nearly as stressful now as they were when I was NA.

People need to realize that 2,000 miles, 5,000 miles, 7,500 miles...etc means absolutely jack in reliability. People who have been running FI for like 30,000+ miles are the only ones that should be chiming in about "still running strong", and even that is not that many miles.

This isn't directed at just one person (Suparu I don't want you to think i'm talking to you lol - and enjoy the car and new found power), I just keep seeing posts pop up about having a few thousand miles or even less and that is way too small of a sample to deem your motor "safe" or solid. Glad everyone's motor is holding up no matter how many miles you have been running it, but for informational purposes it doesn't hold any merit.

I am leaning towards a Vortech Supercharger kit, but unfortunately in Alaska - no professionals i would trust to install and perform a proper tune.

Gonna make to make a road trip down south just to get more power.

It really isn't that hard of an install, and there are good off the shelf tunes for the Vortech system if you don't want to make a trip down south. I installed one in less than a day and that included having to rewire the MAF sensor as we didn't have the extension harness.

@King Tut
would you suggest adding a turbo/supercharger? i just recently got the vehicle so far so good, awesome on the roads. but i can see the unit sell better once modded.
But geez, i just saw the wrx sti limited (the one with no giant spoiler) and wow. i might just have to sell my BRZ. but probably not hehehehe

I thought the Vortechs can't handle winter?

Just to add to the mix:

Innovate non-IC on 93, installed last summer.
25k boosted miles, still running strong with no issues.

I'm upgrading to a smaller pulley and IC this week.

That sprintex charger is holding up pretty good. I hope my avo holds up that well. How many miles in total on the car?
