My love has faded :brokenheart:

Well guys,

After 2 years and 3 months of ownership I'm filing my divorce papers with my 2013 BRZ Limited.

I bought the car for myself as my 19th birthday present, and had an outstanding experience working with Heuberger's Jen Bell. I was as excited as any 19 year old buying his first sports car on his own dime would be.

About a year of ownership in, and still searching for a dealership that I could deal with I had given up and decided to go with Gillman Subaru North in Houston as the 'best of the worst'. Not one dealership would give me a loaner the entire time of my ownership so far(turned 21 this April) so I had to bother my dad to get him to come with me in order to get a loaner when my vehicle was going in to get serviced.

Fast forward to 2015 and after 32,000 miles my car which I changed the oil in every 3,500-4,000 miles(3000 miles before Subaru would have you come in for an oil change that costs more and puts you out of more time than changing your own especially on a car that is so easy to do an oil change on) with AMSoil Signature 100% synthetic, a new crush washer, and the exact same part# Toyo Roki filter that came on the car from Japan. I was on my way to get some wings with my little brother, and about 400 yards before I parked it there was a slight bang, and after a distinct knocking noise. I knew immediately and got the tow truck en-route and proceeded to go inside and get some wings & a few brews while I waited for the tow. 2 weeks later Gillman Subaru North rings me up(after finally getting around to taking the engine apart) and confirms my suspicions. I had thrown a rod. Engine oil levels were spot on, and aside from being filled with metal from the catastrophic failure of my engine was in great shape. I ended up footing $2000 of the $4500 bill for the replacement after much arguing, providing receipts for my oil, filter, and crush washer/oil pan bolts, and even offering to provide all but the first 5 quarts of oil that the car had run due to having disposed of it by that point.

At this point I am done buying any Subaru so long as I live in Houston. I love the cars they make. I enjoy driving them. My dad even wanted to get himself into a new STi. But after the experiences with the dealers here and their lack of care for their customers, neither of us will be purchasing a Subaru in the foreseeable future.

So after all is said and done I am filing for divorce. After test driving plenty of vehicles, and contemplating what would fill the hole in my life as far as driving a sports car that made me feel good about getting in it every time I have decided to order a new 2016 C7 Stingray.

tldr: I'm trading this bitch in for a C7

TBH, I rather keep my twin over a C7. I work at a GM dealer and used to bethe delivery coordinator so I had to drive the vets around (no one else wasallowed other then managers) and although they are sick, I still rather getinto my FRS at the end of the day. That being said I took a Z06 out.... OMFGnow that is a car

Sorry to hear about your engine failure.

Regarding a loaner car, don't you have to purchase a package that includes free loaners when you buy the car?

Yeah, I know how you feel regarding the dealers service centers. The only dealer service I was impressed by was the local Audi/Porsche.

Question, though... why wasn't this covered under warranty (3yr/36k miles)?

Wow, C7 at 21. What do you do for work? Although I have thoroughly been enjoying my FRS the past year, I can't imagine holding onto it if I could afford an arguable more gorgeous car with double the price tag.

I used to post over at the now defunct **************, thus my first post here being what it is.

And on why they wouldn't cover my entire engine replacement under the factory warranty, after giving them dates, mileages, receipts for all items purchased in use on oil changes, and even offering to hand over the materials from said oil changes they said that my Oil Change records were insufficient and that they would as a 'courtesy' pay for half of my bill. This is in no way shape or form a departure from this platform for the sake of not liking it. The dealerships in my area which are further away from me than any other car dealership in Houston make me want to hate it, but I can't. The dealerships making ownership such a headache are just too much baggage for me to consider continuing down the road of ownership.

Not making it super easy, but to be fair I have not had help from my parents on either. 'Vette was recently ordered and still doesn't have a delivery date, but I will keep this thread updated if people wish to see pictures, and know my thoughts on the change from a twin to a C7.

I'm a self-employed I.T. consultant, I work for mostly Oil & Gas, Construction, and Law Firms, though I do have a few CPA firms as clients.

Assuming your story is true, if we don't report violations of the Magnuson Moss Act, dealerships will always be shitty.

Watching this... as most of us change oil at home. What proof was the dealer expecting ?? A time-stamped YouTube video of the oil change?
