Boring? The courses, the people, or the cars are boring? Why do you like Crows Nest? One of the preceding reasons?

Crows Landing is literally 20x larger than Marina. And pretty much all the same people and cars show up.

And for big events like the pro and tour people from all over the western United States are there. Even the AAS events like the Larry Park brought people up from SoCal.

Been hitting Marina pretty hard with the BMW club (family members got into it, competing with the points system they have setup, good atmosphere and 5-6+ runs no problem for $50+yearly club fee) but want to try Crow's Landing this year. Might hit that October 17/18 weekend with AAS, seems like a casual version of SCCA, going to read up on them tonight. Any tips with registering and how their day works?

Might pull a crazy move and do BMW/Marina on Saturday and AAS/Crow's on Sunday that weekend?

Seems like Crow's sets up for a 40-70+ mph setup given your vids above (vs. Marina's 30-60), I will definitely be a slowpoke no matter where my car ends up classed fiddling with that third gear.

I'm a big fan of AAS. IMO it's by far the best local autoX club. I even prefer it over SCCA local events sometimes.

They have 4 run groups. 1-2 in the morning 3-4 in the afternoon. If you want to run in the morning show up by 8 if you want to run in the afternoon show up by 11 (bring $50 cash). If you're not running for points it doesn't matter when you run.

And yes most AAS courses you'll be in 3rd gear, but that's a good thing IMO!

Weeee I finally got a good power slide with some opposite lock on video!

Not my best run from Stockton today, but I had fun. The RE71R's are freakin magic and I love 'em! Next up for me is Subiefest Autox!

P.S. Thats the worst wheel hop I've ever had on launch, whats the general consensus as to the solution for it?

Does anyone have any recommendations for good clubs where you get a lot of runs? I don't mind paying more and would prefer not to have to work and stay the whole day... I want to learn my BRZ's dynamics vs. race.

Also, anyone interested in renting the skid pad at Thunderhill? It's $600 for 4 cars ($150/car or less if we have more cars).

Golden Gate Lotus Club. $75 for 10-12 runs + a sandwich.

SpeedSF does a test and tune autocross at Laguna Seca for $75?? That's not a bad way to go either.

I highly recommend Lotus club to any driver of any level. Compared to AAS or SCCA the level of competition isn't as high but provides a more stable ground for beginners to explore the characteristics or their car and to realize/improve their own driver skill.

I did one autocross event at Laguna Seca with SpeedSF. The course was short, slow, not timed, and not technical. Would not recommend, especially when it is being held at the same time as their track event.

I designed some (though, not all) of those courses and your critiques are noted.

Laguna Seca's paddock isn't exactly an ideal autocross site, but I try my best to offer as much as I can. When I design courses, I try to utilize as much as the space as I can. I try offering a variety of elements that will cater to all skill levels.

Yes to the short part. Yes to the slow part. Limitations of site. Yes to it not being timed. Yes to it being run at the same time as the track sessions.

I've headed a few of these events with SpeedSF and have gotten generally positive feedback. People seem to have a lot of fun. They seem to get in a lot of runs. And we do get a few people who go at it all day until we have to kick them out.
