BRZ Pre-amp harness quetion
Alright guys, got my sub and amp hooked up. I haven't had a chance to toy with settings, but it doesn't sound great and is barely pushing bass.
I have this amp: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004T163PW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailp age_o07_s02"]Amazon.com : Rockford Fosgate PBR300X1 Punch BRT 300-Watt Ultra-Compact Mono Amplifier : Car Electronics[/ame] And this sub: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068XYNH4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailp age_o07_s00"]Amazon.com: Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X10 Prime R2S Single 10-Inch Shallow Loaded Enclosure: Car Electronics[/ame] I ran an 8 ga power from the battery to the back and a modified metra harness (I didn't want to cut into stock wires at all). I used these as examples: - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42239 - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...?t=9269&page=2 - [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma5s8GLOd7w"]Subaru BRZ Quick Subwoofer Amp Install - YouTube[/ame] The thing is these conflict with one another. The video says the left channel is the mint green and yellow, right being blue and white - one of the forums says the opposite. I wired mine according to the video, but I get almost no bass. Is it possible these are wrong? Essentially if these are wrong, I have the left channel feeding into the right channel on the amp, and right channel feeding into the left amp channel. I also partially wrapped the power into the amp with electrical tape, since the wires were semi-exposed - could this cause a bad connection? I will try to take pictures later today and update so that the picture is a little more clear. Any advice? This is probably confusing, I will try to clear it up. Any help is greatly appreciated!! |

*disclaimer* didn't watch the video
You need a digital multimeter (DMM) info in this thread is accurate http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42239 I assume you have a line out converter in this setup, although with some amps they will take speaker level, so I could see that too.. eitherway you can use the DMM to check your signal by using the balance function on the head unit and reading the outputs once signals good set gain using DMM follow this: http://knowledge.sonicelectronix.com...l-multi-meter/ get test tones free here: http://www.ronelmm.com/tones/ I use the 60hz and 80hz for tuning my sub, I just use BT off my phone, unhook sub from amp, hook up DMM, set HU volume 75%, play test tone, set gain. after following these steps report back? also, good luck and feel free to ask more questions, the above is the super cliff notes version of a lot of research on my part.

I definitely need to invest in some audio testing equipment too. Thanks again! |
