I agree it is likely to be well above $10K but to say it as an absolute is not realistic. If I could accurately predict the value of every car 8 years in the future I would be a rich retired guy by now.
That's why I said Probably. Not absolute.

If you're intending to get another FRS, buy out your current one and toss the money you would've put into the extended warranty into a savings account instead.

If you wanted a higher trim model, turn it in and get a Sport Tech BRZ.

If you wanted the same kind of car but was wanting something different, buy it out and start modding.

You can probably shop around for a good deal on the damage repair. Whatever they quote at the dealership will be higher than it would cost you at an independent shop.

As for the move, I hear the drive to and from Vancouver is amazing.

Looks like a great excuse to practice hypermiling techniques. Has anyone hit 50 mpg US yet?

yup, but only for a short distance (30 miles) on a very flat road @ 40 mph.

Most I've gotten is 41 MPG from Ottawa to Montreal driving speed limit. Stock tires of course.

Your car is most likely worth more than the buyout. Work on a trade in on a new one and push to get the most for your trade. You have nothing to lose but time. (dealer is probably going to buy out the lease if you turn it in and resell it anyway)

I got 17 for 2013 Argento with 31K miles and a accident on the carfax.

If you find a "nice" dealer they could even take it in on trade run it through CPO and sell it back to you.

I've never really totally understood the point in leasing a car. It's basically like paying rent on a vehicle.

Most people don't have alot of money to get the car of their choice. Some want a newer car 3 year or so. for example 2015 Benz c300 is about 400 a month leased with 2k down. while buying out right is about 800-1,000 a month with the same amount down. leasing is mainly for those who wants to get from point a to point b.
