If I recall correctly, new car purchasers get 2 free services from dealerships. I'm taking advantage of that.

Guess I'm not a car enthusiast.

Real gear heads do all their own work. Including manufacturing the cars...you're a disappointment...

I actually went to the dealership back in 2009 to buy an Si, and test drove a Fit out of curiosity. Ended up buying the Fit. It was WAAAY more fun to drive! I loved that car right up to the day it got totaled by a hailstorm. Paid $16,750 new for it, drove it til May 2013, and insurance paid me $14,200 for it.

It's got tons of room to haul stuff, gets almost 40 mpg, and will run forever. And did I mention they are fun to drive! I probably should have bought another one. I like my FR-S okay, but I'm supposed to like it. The Fit was an unexpected joy, and put a smile on my face every time I got behind the wheel.

Probably the best car I've ever owned...

The fit is an amazing car! I love all the generations

Yeah, especially the new generation. They look great and the interior is very nice. The color are awesome for it too, especially that yellow...if she wants to stand out haha

The point of my original post was to show a strict-budget, prospective buyer a way to reduce the cost of synthetic oil changes on the FR-S. It wasn't intended to convince you (or anyone out there who doesn't want to work on their car) to do your own oil changes.

For the record, I don't really care if a person works on their car or not. It's just a way to save money if the person is willing.

Well she was leaning toward a Mitsu Mirage because she could get pink so she may be fine with the yellow.
Was trying to steer her away from the Mirage because even though she doesn't need a race car those things are so underpowered I was actually scared when we test drove it. Don't think you could avoid a rampaging tortoise if your life depended on it.

No prob, in some ways it's like driving stick. Guys tend to associate it with manhood or something, but I don't buy into that crap personally. Just preference and budget.

I honestly don't think that's too much more than your typical economy car doing 25k miles annually. An extra $50 per year, if that, shouldn't make/break the purchase decision IMO.
You are correct. But imo if you're not driving this car (or any performance car) hard and are comfortable on cheaping out on maintenance to save $50, why wouldn't you buy a car more suited to your needs and save thousands up front and throughout it's life? Really the only reason I can come up with is "because it's pretty"
