Alternatives to gauges?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for something to monitor oil temp, oil pressure and coolant temp and provide shift lights on track. I'd also like to be able to set alarms on each parameter if I exceed a set limit and reviewing a peak for each would be an advantage but not essential.

I'm currently using the Torque Pro App, but it can't monitor oil pressure, and I still don't have shift lights.

Rather than trying to find and install three separate gauges and a set of shift lights, I'm looking for something in one neat package. I'd also like to keep the OBD port clear to use a Solo DL data logger in the future.

The only thing I've found to date is this:

http://www.defi-shop.com/products/ad...summary_zdcsp/

Any other ideas?

There is no oil pressure gauge from the factory; you need an external sensor.

I think what youre looking for is a full dash replacement, like the Racepak IQ3, or an AIM MXL Pista.

With both systems, you wouldn't need the OBD2 port clear for a Solo DL, as the dashes *ARE* dataloggers as well, and do everything the Solo DL can.

I was looking into the Race Technology Dash2 Pro, as it was a cheaper alternative to the ones you've mentioned, but it's still quite an expensive option. I started looking into this as a cheaper alternative, albeit a bit more fiddly.

The Defi product works independently, as it comes with the sensors required to monitor the parameters I mentioned. It just means I'd have both the Defi display and the Solo DL display to mount instead of the one larger dash.

Both products should only set me back about $1500 AUD compared to $2300 AUD for the RT Dash and sensors. I believe the MXL2 has replaced the MXL Pista and would cost about $2700 AUD including sensors.

I had the Race Technology Dash2 Pro in my Minibusa. It will do every thing you want, but requires separate sensors for all inputs.

It has, but sometimes you can find it on clearance if someone has a unit they can't get rid of

Ook, i thought you were saying about a different sensor, so the one from defi is okay, i just need an adaptor to fit the 1/8" NPT

For il pressure, you can use the galley plug at the top of the block. It is easy to get to. You can install the sensor without draining the oil.

You'll need one of these: http://prosportgauges.com/subaru-oil-galley-plug.aspx

For oil pressure I used this gauge, which has an alarm if oil pressure dips below the pressure that you set: http://prosportgauges.com/amber-whit...ure-gauge.aspx

I had their Boost gauge that I purchased when I had my Evo, it never really worked properly (still sitting somewhere in my garage) ..maybe it was just my luck

Yep. The MXL2 is a vastly superior unit, we've got customer cars using the Pista and the MXL2 is much easier to use.
