Here's a nice view from Mt. Wilson off ACH. It's at about 5500ft I believe.

One of my favorite canyon roads ever. Super tight turns.

Are the corners tighter than the ones at GMR?

I've never driven on GMR unfortunately.

But it is very technical, mostly in 2nd gear and occasionally in 3rd.

Last Saturday, I drove through ACH to get back to LA. This super loud second generation VW R32 passed me aggressively in that straightaway section in the beginning. I chased him down for 15 minutes going up the mountain, I was right on his back bumper for the whole time. He was double laning like there was no tomorrow, I was always in my lane. He couldn't shake me off. I could tell he was getting frustrated and pressured as the chase went on. I had a friend in my car. I just didn't have enough juice to pass him "safely", so I let him go.

It's just dumb how people would mindlessly double lane in the canyon. Just not a smart move to make.

I feel the same way. My buddy who owns a 370z Nismo is always using the double lanes., especially at GMR. Even when he uses double lanes though I keep up with him, but I always tell him to stop because it's dangerous. He never listens.

I see. Well if you ever do go there, be careful because there are lots of blind corners, idiots using two lanes up there, and people trying to drift.

Yeah that's what I don't like about GMR. Sometimes I feel like barfing. Sometimes.

If by technical, you mean slow, then yes. ACH seems very liesurely, since you're generally sitting 1 or 2 gears higher than GMR, but is much more technical once the pace picks up.

GMR just has too many idiots that are trying to time attack it (and subsequently wreck).

It was also just on fire, so not a good place to go right now...

You should stop doing a canyon cruise with him. It's only a matter of time he fucks it up and cause a huge drama.

Heard too many horror stories like that. That's why I avoid that road.

I meant technical, not slow. I'm assuming you haven't driven Mt Wilson road yet? It is very different from other long ACH routes. It's awesome!

I never got into the whole Facebook thing so I don't have one. Are you talking about the sports chalet at the Santa Anita mall? I was going to do some overtime but I'd rather go on a cruise then go to work haha.

Please never, ever cross over into the other lane around a curve, and stress to your buddies not to do so either. A head-on into a motorcyclist coming the other way is a fender-bender for the car but a crippling injury or death for the motorcyclist. I'm particularly sensitive to this because I'm a motorcyclist who used to ride just about every weekend up ACH and also lived in glendora for 8 years and rode my bicycle/drove up GMR and azusa canyon quite often back in the 80's.

What exactly, do you mean by "technical"?

You should. It's easy. It's just so convenient for organizing events. You don't really have to do any personal social networking.

Sport Chalet in La Cañada Flintridge.
