Definitely a market the US domestics need to come around to. I thought GM was headed that way with the Solstice/Skye. Would have loved to have the Skye with the 2.0L Turbo in it.

I followed this car through all the articles from the first mention of it with great anticipation. Then in late 13 I was at a meeting with the Chrysler development engineers (some people actually do get to talk to these guys) and asked when it was coming out. They laughed at me and said the project had been scrapped back in 2011 and there was no intention of moving forward. Apparently they even had issued an actual press release saying so but it just got twisted around to say it would be a 2015 release. There are probably still blogs saying it is coming out "next year" to this day.
I am however hoping that Fiat will eventually revive it.

If I was in the market for a 'Maro I would be getting a Z/28. Now if only GM would give me cost on one, and finance me for 10 years (seeing as I work for them)...

I went through this in the mid-80's with the Nissan MID4. Everybody said it would be "any day now" and I had money in hand for a deposit for almost 2 years. When Nissan killed it I swore I would never buy Nissan until they revived it. I never have.

For those that don't know, Mid-engine/all-wheel drive/V6. Here's a little teaser. If Nissan dug it out of the archives and built it today, it would sell.

All the domestic muscle cars are just too big. The bloat is a real issue.

You think the type R would be good competition for the RS? *shrug*, it might be. Feels like the RS might be a class above with the additional horse and AWD though (granted that comes with weight).
The fiesta and the twins would be solid but the twins edge them out because physics.
The ST and GTI are a close match-up; I like that match-up.

Ya, I would pit the RS more against the WRX/STI or Evo (if they still made them) if I was comparing.

Gah.... this thing would have been attractive as hell. What a shame. Cases like this (and personally working in the industry) are the reason why I take every reputable car blog site with a grain of salt and completely disregard the non-reputable ones.
