Yeah, it's impressively easy to apply. Their paste wax is already pretty easy to apply, but the Butter Wax might be the easiest I've ever used and really gives it that carnauba pop.

Can anyone recommend an easy performance mod for a non-mechanically-minded owner? Do chips really do much? If so what would you recommend?

E-chips do really good if they are resistor based brother. Best bang for you buck IMO.

I'd go HAM and get stage 3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stage-3-For-...40d50f&vxp=mtr

Just know the additional power may have you burning through clutches FAST!
