"Come Race Me Bro" Encounters

First time at the drag strip tonight. Ran 5 times total. Very addicting to try to get the perfect launch and solid shifts. Got a few videos I'll post up later. This is my last and best run of the night. I was in the left lane. Ran against an S2K but he unfortunately really messed up right outa the gates. I was looking forward to having a solid race with him even if I lost. Tho I am pleased to have at least made it into the 14s

Racing the big v8s back in the 70s we would be overjoyed to get that time with a car that cost under $50k (adjusted for inflation). Really shows how the tech and expectations have evolved.

i used to get it a lot in the UK when I drove a highly modified st185, the car looked more or less stock from the outside but had a st205 transmission, forged block and a pile of extras pushing it to the high 500s
Despite having the power to easily beat most of the cars that would challenge me I never saw the point, now I live in japan i've not once had a challenge of anyone both in my 86 and in the R34 GTR I had drove previously.
Kind of glad too, most of the roads I drive on are barely wide enough for two way traffic let alone drag racing.

I would go as far as saying that If i had a rocketbunny v1 kit I might not actually be able to get in and out of my main access road.

I don't know how you accidentally start out in second gear. But it's too bad. S2K man said his fasted run of the night was 14.7. It could have been a good race

Not sure why, but my "come race me bro" encounters are about 90% pick up trucks and only 10% cars.
Same lol

What engine/power mods on your car if you don't mind me asking?

I rarely got "challenged" in my FR-S. Had the occasional moron want to pace me, or even better try to follow me though entrance/exit ramps or sharp corners, but all in all, pretty rare.

Then I picked up a 2014 Civic Si and started getting these "Come Race Me Bros" much more often. Some other civics, a few pickup trucks, and even one old ass Explorer. o_O

Then back at the end of April, I traded the FR-S and Civic in for a 2015 STI. And now it seems like every week some moron is trying to prove something. It's mainly been pickup trucks and I don't get it, I really don't. It's as though they think the wing is just for show and they want to put the "rice-burner" in its place or something.

On a side note: been reading through about the bad experiences with WRX/STI drivers and I'd like to apologize for them. Most of the WRX drivers I've encountered have been really cool/chill/respectful individuals. I just don't understand why people like to pick fights with cars outside of their class...

So if I happen to cross paths with any of you out there, expect nothing but respect and a thumbs up from this former eight-six owner.

It's no forced induction but it's definitely the most cost effective way to maximize the fa20 in NA form as far as I know. It almost feels like a different engine. It raises the torque, especially in the low and mid part of the RPM so torque is actually flat throughout the entire rpm range. The horsepower raises decently (about an extra 30) so it keeps pulling semi decently in 3rd and 4th for an NA 2.0

Yeah really solid trap speed and ET, especially for being in Colorado. Were those adjusted for altitude? I've heard a lot of good things about the OFT E85 tune. Maybe it's worth the 30 minute drive to my local E85 station... hmm

Last week I was driving to the gym after doing a few warm up laps at a local park. I'm driving down the street when I noticed a black mustang coming up fairly quick. I knew what he wanted because he's the same guy I've seen around town revving his engine at me. -_-

I didn't get a chance to switch tunes, but it's irrelevant.

I turn onto the road to get to the gym. I figured I'd give it the beans and actually test the potential of Cosworth. Mind you this is a 1999-2004 model GT 'stang. Needless to say, I think I caught him off guard. Either he wasn't trying or he's lacking in power because even up the hills he was behind me.

I don't care to street race, but this guy was someone who seriously needed to be **** slapped. I'm glad I could provide to this tool bag. And I'm sure his girl was disappointed in him too. Anyway, enough bragging.

That generation Mustang GT is about as fast as a stock FR-S

I guess. So it makes him a bigger douchebag for trying to show off.
