Interesting from the Car Magazine article:

Quote:
Stage 1 kicks off with an air filter, low-temperature thermostat (Cosworth says the standard cars run performance-limiting higher temps for emissions reasons) and an ECU remap, and this alone is good for an extra 15bhp.
Hadn't hear that bit about the thermostat before, almost makes it seem like the high oil temperatures people have been concerned about are a byproduct of a deliberate design decision that is easily fixed by opening the thermostat up, couldn't be that easy could it? Weird.

I still believe some folks hate Toyota/Subaru for not giving them a sub 2500 lb, 300hp/280tq 2.0t, RWD sports car for 25k. Funny thing is the same individuals won't lament on a +3500 lb coupe with 400 hp at 34k. The only car that came close to the specs people wanted was a RX7 FD which adjusted for inflation is around 54k in today's money. The cool thing is you can kind of make a FR-S into a modern FD spec-wise at probably 35k (car + mods)or less which this article has shown albeit with more overpriced parts.

is the SC overpriced though?
I'd say the exhaust is pricey but you have to buy that to use their kit.

It's way cheaper in the US. I think I see them going for 5k-6.5k possibly with a tune in the pricier one.

I found one with a tune for 5k.
