nice build. we have killed some stock transmissions and used the fx725 as well. we are half way done a GM auto conversion since the car is for street/drag only, no road course action. should be way faster and basically bulletproof soon

This is how we made our Getrag 6spd Transmissions in the 3000GT VR4's hold 900+ horse power. Kept the gears from separating the transmission halves... Found this out after I destroyed my first transmission on a hard launch at 28lbs on twin 19t turbos... $400 worth of bracing the internals would have saved me a $5800 transmission... SMH!
Haha, how many current/former 3S owners are here?!

What he's suggesting is to weld a ring around where the shaft bearings load the bell housing.

In the case of the Getrag transaxle of a 3S, you keep the input and intermediate shafts from separating with a simple ring and a few small welds to minimize warpage. This prevents the bellhousing from cracking and dumping your trans internals on the track.

Right now I'm putting the final touches on the car and will be at SUBIEFEST and 86FEST in Sept in Cali. I will be back with more info and build info after the Subiefest. But here is a little something to hold you over.

Where can you get the stock trans upgraded? I thought no one around did any gear sets aside from Cusco and their close ratio set?

Right now I am talking to PAR but it will be awhile before it all comes together so I stocked up on factory transmissions

Please tell me if PAR gets you a set at a decent price, and if they work because by the end of the year I will need a transmission. And if I can get something cheaper than a V160, I would like to do that lol.
