I have a second car but I already put 15k on my brz in 4 months. Yours is not that bad

I'm not trying to trash the 86 here, but there are more interesting options out there for a Sunday drive type vehicle at the same price point, provided you have something boring to daily.

I say sell the Civic and enjoy the BRZ everyday
well i would except i got it as a salvaged title vehicle and its street value as it were is probably something in the $1000 range. so for a thousand dollars of 'value' its worth more to me to not have to put cases of food and paper in it for work.

Ah, OK. That makes sense.

Only recently have I become a two car guy and it really is great to have two cars. I absolutely hated driving on shitty roads (Minnesota) on my way to work in my FRS. Even though I don't have to drive around that many people I still find it great that I can NOW stick people comfortably in the back seats of my WRX for long drives. I randomly switch between the FRS and the WRX for work just to try to keep miles on both of them decently low.

One of the times that I really wished I had two cars was when I was working on my 99 Honda Civic coupe and I broke a spark plug off while trying to change them. I had to go to work the next day so I had try and get it out. Tried tapping/drilling it out but eventually had to remove the head. I was SOL until I could get a ride to the store to get some new gaskets and tools. I had to bum a ride to work for the week from a co-worker and tossed them 20 bucks for gas.

Now I feel much more comfortable and less paranoid when doing anything to my cars. I will always have another to drive to get parts/tools or get to work. It's a nice safety cushion.

Lots of little kids/drunk people in SUVs in a small parking lot = a door being slammed right into the side of your new car (or worse) :O
That's what you get for liking the Yankees.

Though I totally agree, I hate parking at events. People have no respect.

There is nothing better than owning a dependable POS beater that you could care less about how it looks. I was in that boat for a long time and didn't realize how great it was. Then I got two brand new cars and am in perpetual paranoia.

It's a great thing, really. I used to drive an 03 WRX wagon, on the weekends and for hoondoggin, and an Altima for daily. Immediately after picking up my BRZ I started looking for an older Legacy. Something for the shitty driving weather, taking the dog to the vet, camping and what not. Yeah the wallet suffers a tad, but the options give you more freedom. Especially if one needs work, you've still got a ride.

My wife has a 2011 Sonata (non turbo ) that we use for road trips. I currently have a RSX that will soon be replaced by a FRS which will be our summer car.

When I drive the Sonata for a while and I get back into the RSX, I can't believe how much I miss that car. Might be a long winter since I'm planning on having the FRS sit in the garage all winter...

Daemano; I have the opposite problem, she hates driving my truck, so I rarely get to sneak off with the car during the week.

If not planning to drive in the winter and have the will power you should wait until January or February to buy it. There are usually some great deals to be found on these cars in the middle of winter.
Or...
Get it now and drive it in the winter.

WIth the purchase of my 2015 subaru brz and my inability to find anyone to rip off selling my old car to I decided to turn my 2005 Mini Cooper S R53 into a barely street legal dedicated track toy / engineering project of zero fux given

It is now gutted and continually being turned over to look for areas of weight reduction. I am acquiring track parts slowly and as needed while I wait for my bank account to try to recover from some recent devastation

Welcome to the 2 car club

As a single dude with zero intentions of having a kid, living in a metro area and just generally giving few fawkes about anything I dont see the problem with the BRZ as a daily driver
