Birds are probably racist.

My parents got tired of birds crapping on their car so they bought a canopy. Naturally, my car takes up the other spot.

Oh, it's protected against any asshole who wants to flatbed the car. Pictured is a Civic, which is parked behind it. 2 more cars also park there in a tetris-like fashion - my old Corolla and my dad's minivan. The asshole would have to move those 3 cars first to get to mine. Not 100% protection but it's ok.

Very reliable. Car isn't as hot as it was before because it is no longer in direct sunlight. No areas for birds to perch so no more bird poop (unless they want to perch on the car). Rain protected, more or less, and the list goes on.

As far as the canopy its self, my dad went overboard and put the base of the bars into cement blocks. When fall and winter comes, the heavy winds that we get here in the PNW won't blow the thing down.

I would venture to say if fellow car peeps don't want to mess with a car cover, this is an awesome route. We have a 1 car garage but that's my dad's man-cave lol

Asked my dad and he said he doesn't remember. Found one very similar looking at Home Depot's site - that's where he bought the one we have.

This one may be more asthetically appealing for you, but it does cost a pretty penny. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Palram-Ar...1592/202724311

Check your municipal building codes and bylaws before investing in one. I had one up and the city showed up and wanted about $1200 in "permits" because it was attached to the ground and they deemed it a "structure".
