Targa Top FRS Conversion?

I looking for a educated answer to this question: Is it possible to convert the FRS roof into a targa top style? How much would it cost if possible? Would it still remain road legal? Thanks!!!!

It is possible to convert any car to a targa or convertible.
Not cheap though and though not positive I am willing to bet it is well over $10k
Would have to check your State laws but don't see any reason it would not be road worthy.

Part of the cost is to reinforce the body. Won't fold but be heavy and have some major body flex. Be ruined as a track car but would be a pretty sweet cruiser.

Until it gets rear-ended. Then it'll fold right up like a hipster's breakfast.

It can be done, I was quoted 9k with removable roof (targa) or 15k with a motor convertible. Mostly what will happen is that your roof get cut off by a rusty saw then they'll insert a roll cage. You'll most likely lose your back seats . They'll have to either get some sort of weather molding so that your car won't leak and make some sort of heavy durable roof.
Breakdown:
Roll cage = $500+
Molding =$1000+
Roof= $500+
Paint = $500+
Interior fabrication = $1,000+
Labor = 3000+
The material to do it is cheap but the labor itself is where it's going to hurt and you'll most likely lose your car for a good month.

Is it worth it?

NO

Pros?
It'll look sexy
Breeze on your dry forehead.
Fun cruiser

Cons?
Too expensive.
Car will be Undriveable at high speeds.
Less mpg.
No backseat.
Metal bars everywhere.
Terrible handling.
Leak. Leak. Leak.

Basically the opposite of what the brz/frs stands for.

This is actually pretty cool, if pulled off correctly you'll have a neat car on your hands.
