By "of late", do you mean after Red Star? Mine is noticeably stiffer since then, and it seems @Freedom noticed a change too, even if it was notchy before.

Going through Saturday's videos, I found the fastest "track taxi" lap of the day with a passenger on board, and with the nannies switched on.
It was 2m23.9 and it was with one of our forum members. But it was actually quite a boring lap, so no video of that... However, I did find two short but interesting snippets. One before, and one after that lap. The "before" one being the first time through mega-sharp turn 6, and the "after" one being a misjudgement in turn 2. Well kind of, yes, @LostSalad my gears shifts are incredibly notchy, but mainly because I managed to blow my clutch up and the gearbox isn't quite as smooth without a clutch
But agree completely with @Fish Eagle all noises etc are probably your conscience. You didn't buy a corolla, you bought an 86. Drive the wheels off it and enjoy it for what it is. It's actually amazing how much punishment this car can take!

But should track days become a bit boring, then there is another level that you can enjoy without getting into any risky formal competition. It's guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping, and massively improve your driving skills, while still being reasonably safe. ie: Much safer than actual racing. I'm talking about mixing it with mainstream race cars. Expect to change your perceptions of many things, and you'll need to accept that the slowest race cars are as fast or faster than very quick road cars. The place to do this is Midvaal Raceway which is a very safe track, and you can choose how much traffic you have by deciding when to go there. You'll see very few road cars at Midvaal, but we are very welcome there. I'd recommend starting small - most weekends you'll only find 10-15 or so race cars practicing and you can start mixing it with them with minimal stress. But if you want a big rush, then go there the weekend before a big race meet at either Kyalami, Zwartkops or Midvaal - because Midvaal is where they practice. Midvaal practice sessions are split into 3 classes - motorcycles, open wheel single seaters, and saloons. So, as a "saloon" you'll be in the mix with anything - the big V8s, the rotary spaceframes, stunning historics, and scruffy Golf Is - whatever. I put this video up a year ago, so some of you will have seen it already. I was still quite unsure then (read scared), but what a rush. Nowdays I'm much more comfortable in that company. BTW at 8:08 in the video, I get passed by our world champion Devin Robertson in his Inex Legend [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKnpJUnt4F8"]S4 38 1439 - YouTube[/ame]

I've twice made shifting mistakes on Midvaal's long back straight when shifting from 4th to 5th and hitting 3rd by mistake.
My sums say that 7200rpm in 4th = 9147rpm in 3rd, and it could even have been higher... So, my car's survived over 9000rpm twice. Definately not made of glass!!
