This was due to the MAF being in a larger tube than the stock one and needing to be re-calibrated/tuned.

So I disconnected the MAF to put the engine into limp mode and it started right up and idles perfect... only problem is I now have two leaks sprung from this stock-replacement radiator I got. So I contacted the company to get a refund and bought a Koyo that should be here in about a week. I am ordering up some slim 12" cooling fans for the Koyo as there is hardly any space with that turbo in there.

On a side note the wastegate on this turbo kit is dumping exhaust out the dump tube at idle... whether it is connected to a vacuum line or not. I contacted CX Racing and they are reimbursing my $50 for the wastegate. I went ahead and bought a 38mm TIAL replacement with a .5bar spring.

The guy who will be tuning the car also commented on these blow off valves that came with my kit and sell by the hundreds on ebay, saying that they are prone to leaking like the wastegate. So I went ahead and ordered up a Greddy FX BOV that should be here in about 3-4 days. What started out as a pretty crappy/cheap turbo kit is now turning out to be halfway decent.

Now I gotta rip everything back apart and get this thing back together again before my rebuild inspection on the 5th... I won't be able to drive it legally until the 3rd of August when I get my temp tag.

That's what my plans were when I was considering this kit a year ago. I was going to replace the BOV and Wastegate from the start as they are the most serious issues with Chinese kits. Tial will treat you much better man!

Yeah this kit will have a Blitz C3 Intake filter ($99) + Greddy FV BOV ($185) + Tial wastegate ($250). Then when the turbo craps out I'll likely replace it with a turbonetics or something similar ($800). Even by that time I'll still have over a thousand less into this kit than what people are paying for most the other kits available - and by that time I'll have the highest quality components making up my kit.

Yeah, I was going to go the same route but buy the kit that comes with the manifold, piping, and intercooler, then source the turbo, BOV, and wastegate. Kit should be pretty solid after you change those out though.

So I waited a week for the dealer to get me a BRACKET for my brake lines on the passenger side (back order part) and instead they got me a CLIP... Not sure how you can confuse the two words or when I say "It bolts on to the frame rail with a 10mm bolt" and somehow they order a part with no bolt hole... Parts people.

So rather than waiting another week for them to order in another wrong part, I said screw it - reverse engineer the damn thing and get your car back together!

So I spent about an hour today reverse engineering the brake bracket from the left side of the car and am now printing a mirror copy of it for the right side. The part is not an exact copy, but is close enough that it will fit and work properly:

Good skils with 3D printer. I have same exact part damaged, and will need to replace.

Regarding 2 gear.

When i was doing measurements how far each gear is, i found that second and fourth gear are only 1mm away. Is it possible that you do select 2 gear, only thinking it is 4 ?

Without metal plate that bolts on top is very hard to put into 2 gear, i would want to believe it's only that.

And don't just simply buy new gearbox, try to open it first, sometimes it is very easy fault

P.s thanks for gearbox support link, one is going my way from ebay

If you want the print file for it I'll send it to you, but the actual part is only about $4 or so... I just didn't want to wait for it.

I won't buy a new gearbox for a while, but at the same time I don't have the experience required to rip open a transmission and determine what is wrong with it.

It DEFINITELY won't shift into second lol. I have another BRZ 6-speed that I drive every day (will be selling it once the blue car is done) and I'm very familiar with where 2nd is as that car works fine. Whether that lock-out plate is in or out, whether the new trans mount is installed or not, 2nd gear literally feels like you're pushing against a wall.

If the Perrin rear bushing doesn't fix the problem (which I doubt it will) then I will be driving this car around for a while shifting from 1st into 3rd... Then when I have the $$$ I'll buy a new clutch and flywheel and take the trans back off to bring in to a local transmission rebuilder. They'll look at it and give me an estimate for repair, and if the cost is higher than a used trans I'll buy a used one.

With no mount i was shifting to every gear, no problem, gearbox was just hanging by engine and propshaft bearing...

I just was saying, when i was doing measurements for distance between gears for my gear monitor, it was very hard to shift into 2 and not into 4, spacing is very tight. And if limiter is too far in, you will not be able to shift into 2 gear, simple test would be run the engine and check how fast wheels are turning, when without any metal plate you slipping from left side to right side into first gear slot. ( i know, i am repeating myself)

Heard this weekend that a CX Racing turbo bit the dust during the first boost pull.

I talked to the tuner who blew it up - yep it did happen. Last time I blew up a turbo though it was a Garrett - so not sure that brand has a whole lot to do with it rather than a product getting through the quality check team that wasn't up to spec. Granted I am sure more of these make it through Chinese quality control than Japanese or US - as I've worked directly with businesses in both countries.

Blitz C3 Filter Adapter (3D Printed)

I needed a way to adapt my new Blitz C3 filter to the 2.75" intake piping on my car, so I designed and printed out a simple filter adapter:

If anyone wants the print file please let me know! Fitment is perfect!

Wait so are you replacing it with a different turbo?

No, for now I will run the same turbo my kit came with. Someone else with a CX kit went to the same tuner (James at HRI) this past weekend and his compressor wheel exploded. I won't be able to go to him until my car is complete - and hopefully my turbo holds up lol. CX has sold hundreds if not thousands of these turbos on their ebay listings.
