I see that there's a New York sales tax. I thought if I'm located in different state, there isn't a sales tax?

That's usually the case if the vendor is in the same state as you(assuming your state has a sales tax)

Once you enter your address it'll go away. You're right, with you in TX there's no need for tax.

I did enter my address but when I went to pay the tax was still there

That's really odd. I ran through a bunch of different states for addresses and none of them except NY charged tax. I've also received other orders with issue also.
