Installed a K&N and silicone intake tube. Worth the 85 bucks I spent.

What inlet tube did you get? And do you feel any difference in performance? Thinking of going inlet tube and drop in instead of cai

I went the inlet tube/drop in route myself (Avo tube, perrin filter) mainly because I purchased my car in December of 12 so there were no CAIs yet. All non-vendor dynos I've seen show no significant gain in power with a CAI vs tube and filter. Plus a CAI screws with your MAF scaling if you're tuned, which I am.

Just get a good quality tube and filter, save your $$$ for mods that produce better results.

If you're tuned, couldn't you have just scaled the maf for the cai anyway?

Absolutely, but it can be a bit of a PITA to get exactly right for some people

I went on ebay and dug around. You can search "FR-S inlet hose" and scroll around a bit and find the one that is 56 bucks shipped. That's the one I grabbed. I got the K&N used from a member here for 25 bucks and I already had a cleaning kit from previous cars.

The car feels a bit more responsive and a bit snappier. At full throttle, it doesn't feel like much, but at part throttle like if you're making a left out into traffic, it's pretty noticeable.

I was making a left out of my apartment complex right after installing it, and traction control was fighting me much more than normal. The rest of the way to work I was playing with it and I did get it to bark the tires going into 3rd gear a few times.

Honestly, the lack of the sound tube makes me the happiest. You don't realize how obnoxious it is until it's gone.

It's good. has a nice low rumble to it and its not overly loud.

It adds a nice sporty sound without annoying your neighbours.
